This hotel is really handy for the airport, only a couple of hundred yards from the train stop and not too much airport noise. You have to cross a very busy road to get too it but there's a pedestrian crossing (without zebra stripes but it gives a little bit of safety). I stayed in a single room which was very basic but spotless. You could pay for internet access in the lobby area and there were lots of vending machines for snacks. They have a 24 hour automated check-in service which I didn't use but could see myself availing of if I had a late flight. I didn't have breakfast there. The bathroom was basic but perfectly adequate.

    • Disliked — No late trains to Taarnby so had to get VERY pricey taxi.

First thing: Copenhagen is the most expensive city we've stayed in. I managed to get decent rooms for around 50-70€ in London, Paris and Barcelona, amongst others, but Copenhagen was by far the dearest.

I've searched a lot before booking and it turned out that if you want to sleep in the city and wanted a room with bathroom you had to shell out at least 120€ for 2 people a night.

So I took the Zleep. Here are the facts and you decide if it's for you:

+"relatively" cheap
+100m from train station. 3 min to airport, 8 min. to city, frequent trains
+clean enough

-the beds: every movement of either of us woke me and my girlfriend. And they're terribly soft. Normaly I can sleep everywhere, but these are just the worst beds I've ever slept in.
-noise: one night I could hear the TV from another room, the next I could hear my neighbour snoring. Again, I'm not at all sensitive to these things but these walls are just paper.
-the shower is practically over the toilet, you have to be very nimble not to put everything under water.

I personally have stayed at dirt-cheap hotels like Etap in Germany or Travelodge in the UK and would go there again to save money. But because of the terrible beds I wouldn't go to the Zleep again.

We stayed here for one night. The hotel reminded me of a youth hostel, very small room, spartan furnishings, and tiny bathroom reminiscent of an RV we once rented. The bed was small but comfortable. I thought it was overpriced for what you got.

The location: the hotel is conveniently located just outside Tarnby train station, about 5 mins from the airport and 10-15 mins from Copenhagen Central (by train). There is a busy motorway just outside the hotel, so do expect some noise.
The room: it is a showroom of Scandinavian minimalistic design. It has a double bed (not too wide - I think it is called "queen" size - sleeps two average sized Europeans comfortably, but if you are both big, it may not be suitable), a simple desk with one wooden chair, a coat hanger and a TV. No wardrobe, drawers or bedside tables. Compared to British cheap hotels it was very (almost obsessively) tidy. You won't find any useless stuff - like heavy curtains covered in dust, never-washed bed-throws, pictures, spare blankets and the like (I did not miss them - I think they are only good for mites to live in anyway). There is no mini-bar, telephone and the likes, either. Simple, clean and pure. Great for an overnight stay, but if you are staying longer, you may lack space for your stuff.
The bathroom: very simple again. And very clean, too. It has a toilet, a small sink with a shower, shower curtain (you can actually touch it without fear of infection) and a miniature shelf. There is no bathtub, just a drainage hole on the floor and the whole place gets flooded when you take a shower - and full of steam, too, as the ventilation is poor. You may consider having flip-flops on at all times in the bathroom, the water does not drain very well. Towels are provided and there is soap in a dispenser. No shower cap or hair dryer (the latter should be available from reception, though). I was delighted to see such a clean bathroom - compared to mouldy and dusty British ones.
Staff: they are OK, but won't go out of their way. There is daily housekeeping - they empty the bin, change the towels and wipe over the sink. They don't change the sheets on your bed and they can't be bothered to replace the used plastic cups provided at the beginning of your stay or to refiil the soap in the dispenser. We actually asked receptionist to have it refilled in the evening, but he had no idea where the soap was (an could not be bothered to check in the housekeeping cupboard). In the end we did not need the soap, as there was no hot water! They only fixed it after 2 days. I was not impressed.
Safety: the hotel has multiple entrances that are open 24/7, so anyone can walk in - but the rooms have electronic keys, so no stranger should be able to get into the rooms. It was worrying, anyway.
Food: a self-service continental breakfast is optional. You get freshly baked bread (with butter, jam, cheese, pate and ham), cereals (with milk or youghurt), coffee and squash. They did not have any black tea untill the very last day (only Earl Grey or Lemon) and it is hard to come by in shops, too (and does not taste very well) - apparently the Danes are not much of tea drinkers. You get china plates, but plastic bowls, plastic cutlery and paper cups. Urgh. There are also some wending machines that can be used all day - for soft drinks, coffee and sweets. There is no bar or restaurant in the hotel, you better go to Copenhagen for these. The only place we found nearby is a Pakistani takeaway pizzeria. The place next doors mentioned in a previous review (in the bowling alley) was closed.
Overall: I think the hotel meets the expectations of a budget traveller. It is a good enough place if all you want is somewhere to sleep, are easy-giong enough to put up with some inconvenience without making a fuss, and you intend to spend most of your time out and about. Enjoy Wonderful Copenhagen!

***By accident I originally gave this review to another Zleep Hotel outside Copenhagen, please ignore that review***

This hotel is marketing itself as a budget motel along the lines of Etap or Formule 1. I didn't go expecting luxury or a wonderful downtown location, it was chosen on the basis that I wanted to be close to the airport without paying through the nose.

First the location, its a convenient one stop (5 minutes journey) from Copenhagen Airport in the direction of the city centre and only about 15 minutes by train from the latter. Trains run almost all day/night. There's a big sandwich board in the main station entrance explaining how to get to the hotel, which is clearly visible during daylight hours, only 100 m with lots of yellow flags. At night its a lot harder to see ! Although only 100 m away, its a bit more of a walk due to the need to avoid two busy highways - if possible use the Ost (East) stairs, which are closer, although you won't find a sign there providing directions.

The area is certainly not your quaint Danish village, its a poor working class housing project on the edge of the city acting as a convenient dumping ground for the local white trash and recent immigrants. Its by no means threatening but it feels run down and the abandoned car with its windows smashed just 20m from the hotel sums up the atmosphere well.

The hotel itself is very much a high class hostel, its based in what looks like a former boarding school or old peoples home. Rooms are tiny but the fittings are new and everything looks in good condition. In each room there's a TV but no phone (as they point out, who needs one nowadays with mobile phones being owned by all) and no minibar either, but to compensate they have free soft drinks and water (as well as tea/coffee) available 24/7 by reception, a nice touch. The room was basically a small bed with a pull-out bed beneath it, the carpets were horrific, with hard ridges, it was painful to stand on them without shoes ! No air conditioning at all, the rooms were stifling hot but opening the windows just let in clouds of mosquitoes. In any case given the nature of the area I wouldn't like to sleep with the windows open - rooms are all on the ground floor. There is also the issue of the busy highway outside - try to get a room at the back.

The other accident waiting to happen - the shower. The bathroom sink has a switch on it which changes the flow of water from the sink to the shower head, which is located directly next to the sink (there's no separate tub). Having just arrived I turned on the taps to freshen up and was immediately blasted from behind with a jet of cold water, soaking me in the process. The previous guest had left the switch in the shower position ! It would have been nice for the cleaning staff to return this switch to the tap position for future guests :-((

Overall it can't be beat for a cheap place to stay briefly before a flight home, but anybody staying here longer needs their heads examining. It has some nice touches and looks OK for now but in terms of price and overall quality it has a long way to go before it challenges the Etap/Formule 1 brand.
