“My Happy Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2012

A great valley for winery hopping, tasting, learning, scenery and food.
It may be a little difficult to get from winery to winery, however you can rent a driver for the day who will take you anywhere you need to go. Also there are some tours available that will bring you to more than one winery.
I highly recommend the Viu Manent winery, it was my favourite. Their wine is cheap and of impeccable quality. Tours can be done is English and are done on horse and carriage. The staff is great and lots of fun and really go out of the way to make your stay unique. A small cafeteria is located outside with small and fine foods. It was really my favourite winery (this coming from someone who went to more wineries in Chile than can be remembered). I went back 3 times.

If you can go into the town, there is a museum there that covers a bunch of different themes and is really well laid out, the famous hotel that is attached to it is famous for it's brunch.

If you love wine and can appreciate the amazing scenery, I highly recommend spending some time in this area.

“Poor!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

Difficult to get to and far from any close city and very expensive wineries, i´ll recommend going to a vineyard close to Santiago as Viña Undurraga that was really cheap ($8.000.-) and had great wines!

“Happy drinking!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2012

If you are even vaguely into wines then you must come here. That said, you must either have your own car or do as we did & hire transport for the day. For four of us that turned out to be much cheaper than taking a tour. Whilst most of the primary vineyards are on route 68, you still need to be able to commute from one to the next. It is worth doing some research before you leave so that you have some idea of where you want to go. If you want to include a Sunday lunch - probably best to reserve a table beforehand.

“The Chilean Napa Valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

This area of Chile is really for export: most of the Chilean wines produced here can be seen on the tables of restaurants abroad. In my opinion, this zone looks like the Italian Tuscany. There are several vineyards which have opened restaurants and hotels in their premises. Nearly all of them offer wine tours. From Santiago, it takes less than 1 hour to reach this valley by coach bus or car.
