“1st Class Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

WE recently visited the Seven stars after a long period away due to some average management. Our latest visit was a wonderful surprise to experience the change in catering - it is now excellent. We dine out frequently in the area travelling miles to get a good meal but now we have found the perfect venue. By far the best dinning experience we have had in a long time

We only found the Seven Stars as we wanted a night in Bath but were not happy to pay £120+ plus an addition £10 - £20 for parking and the few hotels that offered reasonable rates only did so for 2 or 3 night stays. We decided to look a little outside and found this splendid village pub.

After a really warm welcome from the young lady behind the bar we were taken to our room, which was across the courtyard in a recently refurbished outbuilding and had been decorated to a very high standard with everything one could ask for. We were both somewhat surprised and pleased to see no TV in the room.

We had a couple of drinks in the bar and a meal in the pub restaurant which was of a very high standard indeed. I had Loin of Cod on a bed of Mustard Mash, which was superb, while my wife truly enjoyed her Haddock Lasagne. We followed these with a couple of sweets from the board - I had a Chocolate Brownie Sunday, while my wife had an exquisite Apple and Cranberry Crumble. The menu is extensive enough to provide a nice choice, but small enough to ensure all the dishes are perfectly prepared and presented.

As we suspected after our dinner experience breakfast the next morning was also of the highest standard, freshly cooked with quality ingredients and beautifully presented. It certainly filled us up for most of the day

After checking out we were parked in the centre of bath within 20 minutes.

The only possible negative and the reason that I haven't given 5 stars across the board is that the shower was a little weak and could certainly do with a power boost.

with a same daybooking and lateish arrival we didn't know what to expect. No worries, a warm and friendly welcome ,a lovely room in a recently converted outbuilding and an excellent restaurant our every need was met. Following our meal we had a drink in the bar which is still very much a local pub but with big leather settees and a nice atmosphere.
Breakfast at a time to suit ourselves and an excellent choice of food ,well cooked and in generous quantities sent us on our way not needing any lunch.
With good prices we would have no reservations in returning.

Room Tip: we had room 1 which we find really nice.Just could have an improved mixer on the shower as it is dif...
