“Family Vacation at Blue Mountain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

Stayed 4 nights at the beginning of July. Rented a one bedroom suite with a kitchen. It was perfect for our family. We were able to prepare our own breakfasts and lunches and then went out for dinner each night. The kitchen in the room was fully equipped and our room was super clean.

Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Hello Everyone!
We wanted to share our feedback on our recent trip to the Village at Blue Mountain.
Overall our stay was wonderful and if you are looking for a fantastic family trip, I would recommend staying here for sure. There are so many outdoor activities and absolutely something for everyone and every age. We enjoyed all the attractions and the restaurants both at the Village and in town as well! You can choose fine dining or drive into town and eat at the Beaver and the Bulldog which is so fantastic and reasonable!!

Some feedback for the hotel itself; Seasons
The housekeeping service was disappointing. We had to continuously call for toilet paper as only half a roll when we checked in and none extra in the bathroom cupboards.
Housekeeping came in the second day we were there and made the beds but did not clean the floors or again leave us with either Kleenex or toilet paper.
The rooms themselves are just beautiful and perfect for families with the small kitchen! It would be great if the housekeeping team put a wee bit more care into their services.
This week on Thursday night we went down at 8:55 p.m. to ride the paddle boats and received the most rude behavior by the young man that was counting the cash. We asked how many tickets were needed for the paddle boats and without looking up he said 2, and we then asked what time they closed at and he barked "now". We were quite taken back and my daughter looked just devastated. He could have handled it very differently by indicating they were closing at 9 p.m. but we could come back in the morning when they re-opened at xxxx

As we said overall the trip was amazing, the hotel was beautiful and the staff were great. I wanted to provide feedback on these two things in the hopes that the hotel addresses it as one or two small things can damper the experience.

Regards,
Traveling family in Canada

Dear vacationingfromCDN,

Thank you for sharing details of your experience at Blue with all of our Trip Advisor readers and for recommending that they give us a try, much appreciated. There is no doubt that with our ever expanding attractions we can entertain all ages and a range of interests, it’s hard to get bored when you are here. Yes, Collingwood is just a 10 minute drive, so if you want to branch out and explore the area this is a great start and there are many other quaint towns nearby to explore depending on what direction you are heading.

We are very sorry to hear that our housekeeping services were substandard on this occasion; this is definitely not the quality we intend to provide and share your disappointment that we fell short of our service goals. We will ensure management in this area is made aware of your dissatisfaction and provides this feedback to the team in daily briefings. Just to clarify, daily housekeeping services include, emptying trash, replacing towels (as directed by the guest), making beds (provided they are free of personal items). A full service is provided on the fourth day of stay and includes vacuuming, dusting, sheet change and so on, we’re sorry if this was not made clear prior to your arrival and as such you had a different expectation.

With respect to the unfriendly and unprofessional response provided by a staff member at the paddle boats, this is most definitely not the service standard we promote and share your disappointment. We have directed your feedback on this interaction to the manager of our activities and trust coaching will be provided for improved customer service. We certainly understand how the actions of one can impact an experience and create an overall impression, casting all employees in the same light would be an utter shame, we have so many super stars that go out of their way to ensure our guests are happy.

Thank you for letting us know where we fell short and providing the opportunity for us to improve in these areas.

Yours truly,
On behalf of Blue Mountain Resorts Ltd.,

The hotel itself looks lovely...nice pool...great kitchen, but the check in process and not really having a front desk didn't appeal to me. We requested a baby crib which didn't show up and had to be called for again when it was almost 10pm. The hotel itself wasn't very busy. We had my parents stay in an adjoining room and they forgot two shirts in the closet. They phoned and I emailed about the left items back on June 24th. It's now July 9th and we have yet to get a response by phone or email...Even if the shirts were not found (hard to believe when the hotel was as empty as it was at the time) some sort of follow up would have been appreciated. We were also disappointed to find that the beach which was advertised as open with operation times was actually only "sort of" open. We were told at 1pm that they would be closing at 2pm. This was after we had arrived with a picnic lunch for my son's birthday and friends staying at the resort had just arrived to meet up with us. It was a bit of a let down to say the least.

Dear jennifermonczka,

Thanks for posting a review on Trip Advisor, yours is one of the first since this particular hotel reopened following its extensive refurbishment this spring. The idea of the check in being at the Grand Georgian is because you are able to drive up, check in and then park and access your hotel from the underground. The Seasons front desk was just reopened following the upgrades and is now staffed regularly. We are sorry to hear that you misplaced some belongings and regret that our earlier response did not reach you. We regret your disappointment at the beach, unfortunately prior to elementary schools closing for summer we operate on a more limited schedule. The beach is now open on our summer schedule from 10-6 daily, however is weather dependent and can be closed in the event of lightening or other severe weather. We are sorry to hear we did not provide a timely delivery on the request for a crib and assure you this is not our standard service; we appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to review our service standard internally with the goal of improving.

Best regards,
On behalf of Blue Mountain Resorts Limited

We just came back from a 2 night stay at Seasons and for a first time skiing trip with 3 kids, it was fabulous. The room was very nice and had all amenities needed for a family with young kids. The locations is terrific. Close to everything, or just take a shuttle. The shuttle service and wait times were fabulous. Can't wait to book again, after the reno's!

I'd recommend asking for an end/corner unit as they are bigger, view out onto the pond/hills and from my last stay, seems as though the appliances etc are newer. The dishwasher was on its last legs. My biggest concern is that for the second year in a row, the resort overcharged my credit card. The reason for both years was the same: that when buying the package of lift tickets and accommodations, the lift tickets somehow automatically keep charging. Lift tickets for 6 meant about 600 dollars. I'm not comfortable with that happening 2 years in a row so buyer beware about that.

Room Tip: ask for end/corner units. much larger and better view.

Dear Oplacesyoullgo,

The Seasons at Blue hotel is scheduled to undergo a complete room refurbishment in the Spring of 2013, we are excited to hear our guest feedback following these significant changes. The tired dishwasher for example will be no longer. We are pleased that you otherwise enjoyed the facilities and found the corner unit to best suit your needs. We are very sorry to hear that you experienced a billing issue, this does not sound correct and we would urge you to contact one of our Front Office Supervisors to rectify and establish the underlying cause. You can reach one of the Supervisors by calling toll free at 1-877-445-0231 and selecting extension 7479, if needed please leave a detailed message and one of them will return your call to assist.

Yours truly,

We stayed at Seasons this past Family Day weekend. It was great skiing. The Village was a buzz with lots of things going on -something for everyone. I would recommend staying here to anyone. The rooms are condos, they are very clean, no worries. The carpet in the corridor hallways, yes, not so nice, simply worn out. I understand a reno is coming this spring, can't wait to see it. Our unit was just fine. Comfy beds, good internet, full kitchen and again very CLEAN. Skiing was our purpose and we came with friends who stayed at Rivergrass (with pets) we met up in the Village for meals and had good fun. I have been here in the summer and will continue to come here in any season, at Seasons. Good job.

Dear Devilgirl08,

Wow, we cannot thank you enough for such a glowing review of this property and your wonderful experience during a recent ski getaway. Despite up and down weather this year, we are enjoying some wonderful conditions, our hats off to a wonderful team in operations who work tirelessly to maintain conditions through grooming and snowmaking throughout the season. We are thrilled that you enjoyed the hotel, the Village and the company of good friends over tasty meals. We will look forward to your return and hope you will be pleased with the outcome of the work to take place this Spring at Seasons.

Best Regards,

I booked a room in the Village at Blue Mountain, and was fortunate enough to get a room in the Seasons at Blue. The room was clean, modern, and to my surprise had a full kitchen, with all the untensils, and cookwear you could need. (Helped us save a few bucks by eating in). The room had a nice funtioning gas fireplace, which really made the room warm, but dont leave it on when you leave because when we got back from skiing it was 88 degrees in our room! Unlike one of the previous reviews, housekeeping came and cleaned the room, including the dishes. The bed was comfortable and warm, and our balcony was on the opposite side of the Village so we didnt require the provided earplugs. The room was pricey but it was central and convenient, and 4 of us split the room to lower the cost per person. (There's also a pull out sofa). Overall, very satisfied with our stay.

Room Tip: Units opposite to the village will be much quieter as the village can become a noisy place at night...

Dear Devin L,

Awww, how nice to hear and so glad you were pleasantly surprised with your room as well as all the provisions for a stay in meal and the coziness of the gas fireplace. Yes, good tip, leaving the fireplace on while out, is likely not a good idea if you don’t like it steamy hot on your return, thanks for pointing this out. Well, sounds like you really got lucky with our cleaning staff, they are not required to do dishes but if time permits the team really likes to go the extra mile and please our guests, glad to hear they scored some points with you. You also make a good point about room location; everyone has a different sensitivity to noise so if you are sensitive, a room away from the Village is the better choice. The Village is a buzz of activity, so many venues that attract all types of interest and can generate a certain amount of noise at times. We’re glad you had fun and hope to see you again soon!
