First time in Kure since mid 1980's to try and find relatives after 35 years of no contact. Booked our stay at the Hankyu Hotel and happy that we did. Stayed 11 nights and staff very friendly and professional. Room was very clean and had all comforts required. Over bath shower and toilet occupy the bathroom with the hand basin located in its own nich just outside of the bathroom but still separated from the bed area. Liked the fact that you could open both ends of the room window to allow fresh air to enter. Face washer towels were missed. Breakfast (included in room rate) buffet Japanese and Western mixed selection. Food was a little cold but after discusing this with the restaurant manager action was taken immediately. Restaurant Ondo was a disappointment. Not as good as the restaurant at the Clayton Bay hotel where my family took us for lunch (local knowledge of good eateries, I think). Best part of the Hankyu was its location and convienience to the train station, rental car outlet, shopping, Yamato Museum and other Kure highlights all within very short or leisurely strolls. Now that our family is reconnected we are looking forward to returning to the Kure Hankyu 2Q 2014. I would recommend this hotel.
