“Incredibly charminly beautiful and peaceful- awesome views from infinity pool!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

This hotel was my very favorite on our trip to Costa Rica - and we had all great ones. The hotel is so picturesque - inside and out - beautifully furnished inspiring spaces and grounds . Just walking into the airy lobby which is open to the infinity pool which gives a grand view of the ocean made my jaw drop. Beautiful soothing music was playing to add to the enchantment. The infinity pool and our room had a balcony with the same incredibly beautiful view. There are only 6 rooms here so you feel like you have a deluxe hideaway almost to yourself. The service given by the staff was exemplary - very attentive and only too happy to fulfill your desires. The food and the presentation were wonderful!! I did not want to leave- ever!

Travel to Costa Rica is exhilarating for any naturalist, but some places can be challenging. This small boutique hotel is beautiful, clean, offers great food, has the most helpful and friendly of staff (Jose and Scott), and other amenities. The views and the birding are fantastic! It's a perfect place to recharge after roughing it in Corcovado. It is one of the best hotels I have experienced (and I am a frequent traveler).

This place was amazing, had it all- views, top notch staff (jose), cool owners, amazing restaurant, location to all kinds of interesting places, wildlife. By far the best place I visited in CR. Really neat bar area overlooking the infinity pool. We saw scarlet macaws fly by everday. Every member of the staff went above and beyond in every aspect, don't be intimidated by other reviews this place is gravy, the best roads I drove was in this part of CR

I am hesitant to write this review for fear that once people read this, it will be difficult to continue getting a reservation due to demand. This is a precious boutique hotel with the best view of the ocean that I have found in any other hotel on the Osa peninsula. The room are spacious, clean and with spectacular views. The inifinity pool makes you feel that you are blending into the ocean beyond. The owners, Scot and Russell are hands-on managers who make you feel completely at home. The service staff is amazing (Jose and Carlos). Their restaurant, Azul, has a limited menu which is delicious and quite affordable. The perfect place to relax, unwind, and appreciate the beauty of Costa Rica. The hotel is right off the Costenera highway. As comfortable as any five-star hotel. A real winner! We will return on our next trip to Costa Rica. Steven & Nikki S.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean front room. There are two suites with a bedroom, bathroom and a separate sitting r...

I cannot say enough about this hotel other than it was awesome. Great guys that own it and work there. Fantastic view and food. Wish I was there right now! Book the south suite if you can...Didn't get to explore Ojochal's food scene but it is apparently the best in Costa Rica.

Room Tip: Book a suite

Fantastic hidden gem away from the action. If you love Boutique hotels, El Castillo is right for you. Located high up overlooking the fabulous Pacific Ocean. As soon as you walk through the main entrance you are treated to a view of the Infinity pool & magnificent view of the Ocean. I have stayed in many places in CR, but none match this view of the Ocean & stunning sunsets.
There are a few good restaurants in the Town of Ojochal, but the best food is right in the hotel at "Azul" restaurant. We had 2 dinners & 1 lunch at the hotel. The food is prepared fresh daily & compares to any good restaurant in North America. Their menu has many different options. Make sure you make an early reservation & catch the stunning sunset while you dine.
We got very lucky as the hotel hired a fabulous person named Carlos about a month before we arrived. Carlos catered to all our needs while we were there & he couldnt do enough for us. Talking about someone who is made for the job. He is very patient, talkative and nice, friendly person. He arranged everything for us, including rides to/from other restaurant, booking horseback riding & inquiring about car rental or anything else we requested.
If your in the Ojochal area, you must stay at the El Castillo

The rooms are clean, modern & comfortable with all the amenities one needs (except TV's, which one really doesnt need while here)
The hotel only has 6 rooms & all of them have a similar great view of the Ocean. We stayed 4 days & at most 2 or 3 rooms were occupied at any time.

As a destination wedding photographer, location is everything. It always sweetens the deal when the staff and scenery of a hotel create an incredibly welcoming atmosphere. A truly marvelous venue for a destination wedding. Simply wonderful staff - courteous - thoughtful - and all around great people. Stunning views and sunset.
