Lovely surroundings and courtyard garden, rather spoilt by fairly constant traffic close by. Asked barmaid to toast bread for sausage sandwich, she refused with all the charm of Basil Fawlty and said it was't possible. Luke warm sausages served on stale generic sliced white bread and no great feeling of welcome. .

Driving south rather late on Bank Holiday Monday, having failed to secure a table at our known restaurants, we were welcomed at the Hare & Hounds (which we have driven past for years) and experienced excellent food & service.
Can't speak for the hotel accommodation, but those staying would eat well !

We stopped for a meal while on route and were pleasatly suprised. Staff were attentive, food was excellent and wine was extremely good. The food was not cheap fast food but was well worth what we paid for it. I would not hesitate to stop here again.

After visiting the hare and hounds 4 or 5 times over the last couple of years I get the impression the management are losing interest. Sunday lunch beef served very rare to raw without even mentioning it in advance, forgotten drinks order which they then argued over, strangely fizzy beer, 1 waitress run ragged. Difficult times for pubs and standards have to be maintained.

To sart wiht a positive the pub is fine and the food good.
We were looking forward to a weekend in the Cotswolds to attend a nearby wedding in what looked a characterful pub/b&b.
However, the room and outlook were incredibly disappointing and dismal. The rooms are on the ground floor with no blinds/obscured glass and so you are either potentially overlooked or in darkness with the curtains drawn. The decoration was basic and you could have been anywhere and was not in particularly good condition. It was so drab that we checked out despite having paid the first night online and having to pay the second night due to the cancellation policy.
We were lucky enough to find a very good alternative but had been contemplating just driving home. Not a good experience.
Teh pub however was fine and actually the food was good.

We spent two nights at the Hare and Hounds as my son was married in Bibury and the reception was at nearby Cripps Barn. Positives... the hospitality offered by the Host's son was superb. The food albeit expensive was well presented and enjoyable.

A meal for eight of us pre wedding at £320 resulted in a £30 service charge.... as our group spent in excess of £1200 I thought this was a trifle mean.

On checking out I mentioned that our room needed a little love, Crack in sink, heated towel rail taped up, bathroom extractor failed to work and bathroom window wouldn't open.Bathroom room wouldn't close or lock . I was told this was a security issue which I found odd as the adjacent room had an opening window. It was meant as constructive but I was informed that it was odd as most people found the rooms lovely. For £105 per night maybe you could do better??

We visited the Hare and Hounds on the recommendation of some friends of ours who are usually worth trusting- and they were spot on as usual.

Although from the outside and interestingly, the pictures of the building on their website, you might not think that you were entering a gorgeous pub/restaurant you certainly are and it's a joy. Lots of little nooks and crannies, mismatched but perfectly charming furniture and a menu that is succinct, varied and difficult to choose from- simply from the range of delicious dishes you'd like to sample. It was lovely not to have to trawl through 30 main courses that you know could not be possibly cooked freshly. We loved the contained nature of their menu in terms of choices, but don't misinterpret this as little choice.

We both had starters, mains and pushed down a pud and each course was beautifully presented, fresh, cooked perfectly, high in taste and devoured with glee.

The team at the Hare and Hounds practice personable but discreet service and so it was a pleasure not to be continually bombarded with questions about our meal but someone was to hand if we needed anything, more drinks etc.

The only difference we'd make was that puddings arrived so quickly we'd hardly had time to have a breather between courses- and that really is NOT a huge problem.

We will be returning and like our friends recommending to others. Thank you for a lovely meal.
