“Enjoyed the whole experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

We stayed for two nights at this hotel. The host Daisuke was fantastic. We enjoyed the food and the traditional tatami room was very comfortable. The hotel is very clean. Service was above and beyond even in helping us get our car out of a snowbank. We loved the onsen downstairs. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

A very convenient place to stay when skiing in Myoko Kogen, benefiting from a great location (close to slopes and a short walk to restaurants/rental), a high grade of service (pick and drop off at the station) and access to an own Onsen in the basement. Other benefits with this place is large storage for skis/poles/boots and an English speaking host.

Don't expect luxury ... but a convenient and functional stay for a couple of days.

Daisuke was the best host we have ever had in Japan. He bent over backwards to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible.

He picked us up from the station with short notice, explained the local area in detail and so much more!

The room was cute, warm and cosy which made our stay enjoyable. There is a shuttle right out the front and the akakura onsen ski resort just behind. Breakfast was excellent and I always felt bad when I couldn't fit anymore in my belly!!!

The price was excellent and our room had an ensuite with shower (and had excellent water pressure!).

Thank you again Daisuke!

We stayed at the Wakui Hotel for 8 nights in the start of February, 2014. We had a fantastic stay! Daisuke is a great host and speaks excellent english (something that is rare in this area). He picked us up from the train station and was always around to help with anything we needed. We chose a traditional style room, which included a small ensuite. We didnt use the bath or shower as the hotel has a traditional onsen in the basement. This was a great way to relax after a long day enjoying the powder! The breakfast was also satisfying. All in all, a great place to stay if your on a budget.

Room Tip: The traditional rooms facing the main road have high ceilings and are sunny.
