I am at a loss how other customers here found the breakfast varied. They could not produce Earl Grey tea, could not (or would not) produce a poached egg, could not ( or again would not) produce a pepper mill for the scrambled / boiled egg. I did hear another couple request pepper the next day to be told none was available. No fresh fruit or even tinned grapefruit available.
Breakfast was served within a very restricted period of three quarters of an hour and we were asked to vacate the breakfast room as we were taking too long over breakfast. ( I acknowledge this may have been reasonable but was indicative of their attitude and poor way of communicating.)
Even though we were staying for 2 nights we were expected to be out of our rooms by 10.00 am and not allowed to return until 4.00 p.m. This is possibly not unusual but is starkly written on a notice in each room as a "rule". The owner made her irritation very clear that we were still using our rooms after that time making a comment about us "supposed to be hill walkers " and reminding us in no uncertain terms that it was not a hotel! Having had an eleven hour day in the hills the previous day we did not appreciate being put out of our rooms so early or her unpleasantness in the way she spoke to us.
We found them inflexible and unaccommodating and the owner's wife particularly unwelcoming and sharp with her tongue. We wouldn't have dared to ask for an iron!
Go to the B&B next door. Much more friendly.
