During 3 week tour of the highlands and islands (Outer Hebrides and Skye) my wife and I had not booked any accomodation in advance. We left the Newton Lodge Hotel in Kylesku and headed south to Plockton hoping for a 2 night stay at one of the hotels/inns, but were unlucky as there had been a wedding and every where was booked out.

We decided to head to Kyle of Localsh and Loch Duich where there are a number of hotels, but saw the sign for the Tingle Creek soon after leaving Plockton. What a find - very comfortable bedrooms and the guest lounge and restaurant are very comfortable.

There is an outside seating area with great views across to Skye, but the midges were biting so we beat a hasty retreat to the Galleon Inn, a quiet bar attached to the hotel.

The choice at breakfast was large with fruit salad, yogurt, cereals and self service hotplates, we ate so much we did not need to eat a lunch time!

The hotel is run by a family from Newcastle (not forgetting son in law Mark from Cumbria) and they made us very welcome. As to the name, apparently the previous owner once had a race horse called Tingle Creek!

Stayed for a couple of nights in June on our way to and from Lewis and Harris. Quiet and pleasant location, ideal stopoff for anyone visiting Skye or the Outer Hebrides.
Staff friendly and helpful, bar meals were good, only gripe we had is that if you need to be up and away early in the morning before breakfast is served (which you've already paid for with the room), then you can arrange for a continental style breakfast to be left in your room but have to pay an additional £10 for it.
A major problem is that on sunny days the western (seaward facing) side of the hotel is exposed to the full glare of the sun all day long and this means that the rooms can heat up unbearably . Because of this we found it almost impossible to sleep on our second night and were unable to keep the room window open ironically because of the noise disturbance from the air conditioning/ventilation system for the bar just outside. The rooms need air con fitted or at least some form of forced ventilation.

A recent one night’s stay was satisfactory. The en-suite room was clean and well-presented and the hotel is in a pleasant location with views to Skye. The west coast railway to Inverness passes in front. We had pre-booked dinner, bed and breakfast, which turned out to be a mistake as the dinner menu is priced and there is also a bar menu, if a full meal is not wanted. The food is pretty much standard fare with an overlong menu as is so often the case. Breakfast is somewhat institutional as most of the food (except for eggs and toast) is kept in warmers. Very pleasant and friendly staff.

The Buchanan Clan wants to extend there gratitude to the Tingle Creek Family for making our stay so memorable. It was perfect! We were a group of 10 from Canada coming over to stay for a week at Tingle Creek Hotel. We were in Scotland because my fiancé and I chose to get married at the Eileen Donan Castle. We also chose to have our wedding reception at the hotel. Tingle Creek Hotel was awesome! The family and friends that run the place are very friendly, funny, and very helpful. The views are amazing from that hotel. The food is EXCELENT! All the ingredients were fresh and every meal was made from scratch. Our family and friends were very impressed with the hotel. The location is perfect for staying in the Highlands of Scotland. We all fell in love with the people and Tingle Creek Hotel! Great place to unwind and relax! Highly recommend having dinner there and staying for a night or maybe two!

First class "wee gem" of a hotel. Cant fault a thing. Staff were very friendly, we were made welcome immediately. Room was spacious and spotless. The food was to die for. What more can I say except if you ever get the chance and your up in that area, visit Tingle Creek in Erbusaig and enhance your break .

Fabulous location, the staff were all very helpful and kind. Food was very good and the whole ambience was excellent. A place to relax and recharge, or take energetic hikes, didn't have any complaints.
