We visited Pesto on Thursday lunchtime, and having visited this chain of restaurants before, had a sense of the standard of food on offer, which us generally very good. However, this time, the food wasn't quite up to Pesto's usual high standards. We were greeted and seated quickly, our drinks order taken, and then our food order. We ordered off the lunch menu, 3 plates for £7.95. Pesto serves Italian food in the 'tapas' style of small plates. On this occasion, the food just really wasn't up to much, my lasagne was warm in some parts, hot in others, the gnocchi was pretty soggy, but the calamari was nice. My guests chicken was dry, but the potatoes and garlic mushrooms were just ok. All in all, service and atmosphere were good, but the food missed the mark this time around. I would visit again, but maybe with not such high expectations!
