“Delightful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2009

This lodge is absolutely amazing. three nights for myself and my aprtenr cost £112 and it was the best money i ever spent. Rooms and extremely clean and the staff are amazing. it is walking distance to manchester united football...which was very important to my partner! the metro to the city is also only 4 or 5 minutes walk. Overlooking the cricket ground which was lovely. cant wait to go back!

Great Budget Hotel!

We only wanted a hotel for 1 night as we went to see a comedian in the MEN Arena in Manchester. This was really well priced (we got it for £44 per room bed and breakfast, executive room) It was clean and staff were plesant. The view from our room of the cricket pitch was nice. A short walk to a tram station then a few stops into Manchester. We got into Manchester for £2 each way. Can't think of a negative. Overall a great couple of nighter budget hotel! The rooms don't look cheap! They are nicely decorated. Even had a heated towel rail in the shower room! Would definetly recomend if someone wants a couple of nights stay over. Oh and it is also on the main road so it is not hard to find.

Stayed here for one night in November 2008. Booked an Executive double room as advised by other reviews(£49 through Expedia ) and was not disappointed. Check-in was smooth and simple, room was very comfortable and SPOTLESSLY CLEAN. All usual amenities - Sky TV - Tea & Coffee - Trouser Press - Iron - Hairdryer,Etc Etc. Balcony overlooked cricket pitch. Continental breakfast very plentiful - cereal, fruit-juice, fresh fruit, toast, croissants, bread rolls, cheese, ham, tea, coffee, danish pastry's etc. Lots of free parking. Five minutes walk to M.U.F.C., two minutes walk to Metro into town. All in all a very good place to stay, will definitely stay here again.

Stayed overnight and paid £44 for a room a few months previously and this seems to be the cheapest you can get. The room takes a max of 2 adults and 2 children in a double bed and sofa bed and the £44 would cover everyone.

The rooms are quite small but modern, clean and have just about everything you need, i.e. iron & board, trouser press, hospitality tray, adjustable heating, opening windows, good lighting, phone, & satellite TV.

The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was just about big enough (shower, no bath) but again, very clean and tidy.

The walls are not very soundproof but it seems that TVs have their sound level restricted so that loud TVs do not disturb others. I did wake a few times through the night because of noisy neighbours and my colleague, who was in the next room, was audible to me when he snored!

The continental breakfast (included in the price) was good and plentiful. The staff on the front desk, housekeepers and breakfast staff were all friendly and helpful.

The Lodge is directly next to Old Trafford Metrolink so it was just a £2, 15 minute ride into the City Centre, however, returning this way late a night may feel a bit unnerving to some as you return through a tunnel under the track and then the way back to the Lodge is not very well lit.

It would seem that the Lodge may have suffered from over zealous groups of socialites as the literature in the room warned of breakages being charged for and the threat that if you make a noise then you will be ejected and never to have more than 2 adults in the room at any time. This was less than friendly but maybe it is more of an indictment to todays selfish society than a threat.

However, overall the Old Trafford Lodge was comfortable, well priced and very convenient and I would definately stay there again. The cricketing connection was an added bonus.

  • Liked — Cleanliness, location and cost
  • Disliked — The very thin walls and the warnings about my potential behaviour!

Stayed here for four nights, and would come back. There was nothing special about it, but it was clean, modern and had all the facilities you would expect. It was also reasonably priced. I was working in Manchester and it is just 10 minutes to the city centre and much cheaper than a city centre hotel.

Breakfast was a good continental, ham, cheese, toasted sandwiches, cereal, fruit etc. My room was clean and comfortable.

I have stayed here twice now and always had a great stay.
The executive rooms are well worth the extra money as you get a lovely big balcony with views over the cricket pitch - a nice treat for the middle of a city.
The rooms are decorated in a modern style with good facilities, such as Sky TV and free internet access.
Location is good for any of the west side of the city.
The staff are friendly and efficient and the room was spotlessly clean.
I have stayed in several hotels in Manchester, but in future will always go here.

Stayed 2 nights for £110 with continental breakfast.

Room had balcony overlooking cricket pitch, good size & clean but would prefer to have a bath rather than just shower.

Went to 2 concerts at MEN & Apollo, easy to get to from metrolink just around corner.

Buffet breakfast with plenty of choice.

Couldn't fault it for the price
