“Travelodge at the Cricket!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2008

Stayed here for four nights, and would come back. There was nothing special about it, but it was clean, modern and had all the facilities you would expect. It was also reasonably priced. I was working in Manchester and it is just 10 minutes to the city centre and much cheaper than a city centre hotel.

Breakfast was a good continental, ham, cheese, toasted sandwiches, cereal, fruit etc. My room was clean and comfortable.

I have stayed here twice now and always had a great stay.
The executive rooms are well worth the extra money as you get a lovely big balcony with views over the cricket pitch - a nice treat for the middle of a city.
The rooms are decorated in a modern style with good facilities, such as Sky TV and free internet access.
Location is good for any of the west side of the city.
The staff are friendly and efficient and the room was spotlessly clean.
I have stayed in several hotels in Manchester, but in future will always go here.

Stayed 2 nights for £110 with continental breakfast.

Room had balcony overlooking cricket pitch, good size & clean but would prefer to have a bath rather than just shower.

Went to 2 concerts at MEN & Apollo, easy to get to from metrolink just around corner.

Buffet breakfast with plenty of choice.

Couldn't fault it for the price

I booked direct with the Lodge, very helpful. Nice comfortable room and very ample breakfast. A little noisy as sound proofing between rooms is not great but it was worth it for the fantastic views of Old Trafford. Very convenient for tram into city as well.

We stayed here for the night when we came to see Celine Dion at the MEN. To say we were surprised with the standard of accomodation is an understatement. The room was spotless, not normally something associated with cheap one night hotels. The wife is fastidious about cleanliness and even she was amazed. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Continental breakfast was included in the price .....(59 pounds) and the only downfall if there is one is that there is no restaurant or hot food available. There are local TakeAways which deliver to the lodge and if the reception is not too busy the staff will ring through your order if you want. The bar is open till 0130 for residents.....
There is a Metrolink station...(tram) literally two minutes around the corner. However we couldnt find a time table so you have to guess the time the tram runs, the hotel staff gave us a rough guide but we did get on one of the trams which wasnt going the way it said on the platform, that said the tram takes around 10 minutes into the City and is cheap enough.
Both my wife and I are in agreement that we would definitely stay at this hotel again and would have no hesitation in recommending to friends.

My hubby, myself and kids stayed here so that we could do the tour of Old Trafford. Our rooms were good with balconies overlooking the cricket pitch, Bar on site open till 1.30 am. No restaurant but we had a curry delivered and sat in the bar and ate. Hotel provided our plates and cutlery and helped us clear up our rubbish. Free coffee and tea in the bar. Even capuccino. Free continental breakfast (we didnt experience this, had a lie in instead). Free parking. Nice friendly place. Only downside was other people being noisy in corridors. But thats the same where ever you go. Would definitely stay here again.

We went to manchester on a short shopping break and chose this place from recommendation. It is only about a mile or so from the city centre and about a 10 minute walk away from Old Trafford - which was great for us being manchester united fans! The hotel itself was clean and the rooms were situated over Lancashire County Cricket Ground, great if you're a cricket fan! The bed was really comfy and the bathroom even had surround sound in it! We chose to spend our evening in the hotel bar which we thought was excellent, it had a chilled out atmosphere and was relatively quiet (a godsend when you've been shopping at the trafford centre all day!) and the bar was well stocked...which made up for them not serving evening meals as there were planty of sandwiches, pasties and other snacks. Breakfast was continental, having croissants and danish pastries aswell as toast, cereals, fruit, deli meats and cheese. Staff were friendly and we didnt encounter any problems while we were there. We have been there since our first stay and are going away again this year to watch the cricket.

  • Liked — The hotel bar and the balcony overlooking the cricket pitch
  • Disliked — A nearby train which goes past the hotel frequently
