Visited here this evening with my two sons aged 6 and 10 months. The visit cost £9.50 for 2 adults and 1 child (baby was free!) but the added extras were a rip off. £6 for a photo that was so bright you can barely make out the faces, the background is green and plain and Santa's beard didn't even fit on his face properly. £10 for a photo and a bauble, etc... Santa himself was shockingly bad - from the accent he was clearly from Liverpool and looked a bit on the young side for Santa! The whole experience was disappointing. The elves who show you from space to space do it with a lack of enthusiasm and warmth and the fact that there are so many santas so you get ushered into what is effectively a booth is atrocious. It felt like a conveyor belt, one in, quick check by the elf to see if anyone else was leaving their Santa then quickly push you out the curtain on the other side. And the gifts?! A cheap craft set that was clearly from a 99p store. The Trafford Centre was beautifully decorated and had a lovely Christmassey feel and the ice skating was fabulous and run by lovely friendly people, the carousel in Barton Square was lovely but the grotto does not live up to expectations. We travelled a long way for the experience and it was one I would definitely not recommend. Save your time and money and go to a local grotto who would probably take the time to make the experience magical. Not some rip off excuse for a festive treat!
