“Quirky English Informality at its best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014

The Old Hall is situated in an English village setting about a 10-15 minutes drive from the M1, yet you feel as if you could be in the middle of nowhere.

This is clearly a family home first yet you are not made to feel that you are intruding and the owners are extremely friendly, helpful and relaxed. Watch out for the chickens which freely roam the front of the house! The house dog was docile and accommodating.

The building is predominantly Tudor and full of nooks and crannies, with the added charm of un-level, floors walls and ceilings. The owners have been sympathetic to the building which is set in its own large grounds.

There is ample parking at the front of the property and the two rooms we stayed in were located on the first floor with access to their own private lounge. The Lady Lysgar Room is decorated in a French and feminine style and has its own en-suite shower room. The other bedroom (decorated in gold) has its own bathroom which has to be accessed across the guest lounge. I(Don't chose this room if you prefer to have an en suite)

We made good use of the guest lounge on the afternoon we arrived and the weather was appalling and as we were celebrating family birthdays we toasted these in style with champagne that we had brought. The hosts were more than happy to provide us with glasses and left us to it! We had a very pleasant few hours.

The rooms have tea and coffee making facilities and fresh milk is provided in flasks (much better than the usual milk jiggers!) There were bottles of water and small cans of coke also provided and well as a good selection of herbal teas.

The bathrooms are modern and up to date - the stand alone bath has a great view of the parkland which can be seen through the window. The beds were very comfortable.

There were a number of breakfast options including English and continental as well as scrambled egg and smoked salmon. We opted to the English breakfast which was cooked to a high standard and used quality ingredients. This was served in a large family dining room with an imposing dinner table. Despite the formality though, the surrounding were relaxed.

This is an unusual Bed and Breakfast which shows off England at its best and most quirky. So much better than a sterile (and often more expensive hotel chain).

On site facials and beauty treatments are provided - this is not immediately obvious when you visit the bed and breakfast booking website and this is definitely a bonus if you are looking for somewhere in the country side to unwind and relax.

We would recommend this home to other travellers who are looking for something which is more unusual and we would love to stay here again

Room Tip: If you have disabilities then this is not the place for you as this is an old building and the rooms...

Fantastic Location. Friendliest and most accomodating of owners.Whilst being made to feel like visiting friends, the owners were very professional in their approach to the service offered.

The rooms have a real period feel whilst having a very high standard of finish and facility.
Will definitely visit Old Hall again.

The Old Hall was just wonderful. An originally Medieval hall set at the end of a long drive in a private park, it is picture perfect old England as we have always imagined it. Going up the drive I had to drive slowly to allow the grazing sheep, goats and chickens time to get out of the way, which gave me time to appreciate the lovely setting. Inside the hall the bedroom was large, well equipped and very comfortable, with a shared sitting room attached. Breakfast was substantial, and my only complaint was that the coffee was as weak as water. Definitely highly recommended for a weekend break, or whatever.

We stayed for just one night but it was such a treat. After driving in through stone pillars you are faced with open park filled with grazing sheep. Very peaceful. The house is so much older than it looks and is really quaint and quirky inside with rooms leading off rooms, stone floors and huge sofas. We were in the chapel room, decorated in black and white which sounds abit depressing but was very relaxing and luxurious. Some of the decor and finishings are a bit tired but the room was very comfortable and looked out over the front garden complete with friendly chickens and a view of the little church. It was very quiet and peaceful.
The owner was away when we stayed but we were well looked after by her colleague Annie. Very tasty breakfast in the beautiful dining room.
Overall a fantastic place to stay.

The Old Hall is a historic building set in extensive parkland on the edge of a village and very convenient to a main road. In keeping with its age, it is a rambling property full of interesting features - the information file in the room gave a potted history of the premises and the adjacent Bosworth Hall. The bedroom was very tastefully decorated and the bed was extremely comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. Coffee and tea-making facilities were provided in the room and Carolyn also produced a tray of coffee for us on our arrival. There is plenty of safe parking.

We stayed at The Old Hall for our wedding night and can honestly say it was perfect! The rooms are so quirky due to the age of the building but this makes it all the more homely and personal.
Everything was just lovely for us, the house, the rooms, the breakfast and Carolyn is the most perfect host! She even gave us a lift back to the pub to fetch our car...
I just wish we could move in! I would thoroughly recommend staying here.

I found The Old Hall after being let down by another hotel. I've stayed at a number of hotels but have never been made to feel so at home as I did here. I will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend.
Thanks Carolyn.
