“Fantastic Peaceful Unique B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2011

If your idea of a perfect break is an anonymous hotel with identikit furnishings, then Part-Y-Seal is not for you.If, however, you want a unique experience with amazing views over the Welsh countryside and couteous and attentive service, then you cannot do better than stay with Fred and Jeanette. Relax, chilll out, amble along the lanes on foot. Book yourself a proper therapy massage with Tanya. Enjoy superb vegetarian food fresh from their garden. You will be back!

Room Tip: All the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Peace and quiet are guarenteed

I wouldn’t mix repro Louis XV furniture with 1990s rattan but some people like a bedroom with variety. It was a pity that the Sky TV remote control didn’t work but all the bedroom issues were eased by the enormous and astoundingly comfortable bed. It was a delight to sleep in.
Breakfast was very nice, with the added bonus of honey, fresh plums, currants and raspberries from their own garden with cream. Lovely! Jeanette was very amusing and helpful.
When checking out, we told Fred that, just as in an earlier Trip Advisor review, we had to ferry kettles of cold water to the bath because the tap didn’t work. As he took the balance of his £80 fee he offered “Sorry” and the feeblest attempt at justification but nothing more. Then we asked if we could buy some of the free-range eggs on offer. Surely, that was the moment to say “They’re on the house.” But no. “£2 please!”. To me, this said “I knew my plumbing was faulty but did not get it fixed. Too bad, sucker!”
The potentially elegant conservatory and hallway are packed with joss sticks, oriental knick-knacks and posh chocolates for sale. The dining room has a damp, musty smell and the whole establishment needs a handyman and an eye for detail. The fruit and vegetable gardens at Part Y Seal are amazing. I never thought productive agriculture could be so beautiful. With their chicken coop and their solar panels, Jeanette and Fred seem to be trying to live ‘The Good Life’. They are not quite farmers, not quite shopkeepers and not quite running a sumptuous, luxurious B&B which £80/night would command.

Wonderful views, beautiful gardens, quiet, peaceful, excellent service - beautifully prepared lunch and breakfast. Our stay was truly relaxing - you feel lost in time - the house itself is large, spacious and bright, with sweeping staircase and huge bright landing - both bedrooms we had booked were large and had fantastic views over the formal lawn, ha ha and down a valley of parkland with sheep grazing, very dramatic with hills all around. The beds were very comfortable. Our cooked breakfast was 10 out of 10 - I think where ever possible everything is either organic or home grown, homemade or all three - There's a huge attention to detail and both Fred & Jeanette were excellent hosts. The gardens definitely worth a good walk round - an imaculate vegetable garden with almost everything being grown including blueberries, tayberries, red/white raspberries etc etc. Part Y Seal is to date the best B & B I've come across. Big Thank you! to Fred & Jeanette

We stayed here last year en were back for a full week in this wonderful part of the world. Not having Internet access and having to go into the garden for some mobile phone coverage meant that we could fully escape from work and the office. The B&B is very peaceful and restful, specially after we ordered the massages.
The food is served with fruit and vegetables from the garden (when possible) and is really tasty. Fred and Jeanette are very helpful and offer excellent service. When something needs some attention (like instructions how to use the hot water in the bathroom) you can always ask them for help.
We will be back when we are in the neighborhood again. We can recommend this B&B.

We have just recently stayed at Part-Y-Seal for a short break, we have stayed here before and always get the same quality of high class food and customer service in a location that is both beautiful and serene. We stayed in the 4 poster bed room which has a lovely ensuite toilet and shower room, all with excellent views of the countryside outside. Fred and Jeanette are the perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble and their home made cuisine is a delight. Tanya is also a great asset, with her many talents and is very helpful over the phone when arranging the dates. Part-Y-Seal is somewhere you can relax and enjoy the scenery and unwind. It is unique in my experience, and is somewhere that you are always guaranteed a welcome. My wife, who is disabled, always feels at home when she goes and I cannot pay higher tribute than that.

Fred, sort out the oriental ornaments. Clear out the lovely room, put in a couple of sofas & low tables & you have a great relaxation room for B&B guests to use during the evenings & an extra space for serving up those 1st class cream teas. Keep up the good work with your lovely food & great service & I'm sure you will make a good living. Your daughter Tanya should be congratulated on her professional approach, she is a great addition to your business. I'm sure she will do well.
Finally, I will click on YES recommend to a friend as I'm sure you will sort out the silly faults that I found during my stay.

Part-Y-Seal looked fabulous on the website. The property is amazing, a beautiful old 16th Century house which must have been very grand in its time. The entrance hall and so called reception area, which by the way had no check in area, was bombarded with oriental orniments for sale. To the right hand side of the entrance hall was a beautiful large room which again, had oriental orniments and a mish-mash of furniture for sale! It would have made such a wonderful reading room for guests. Our bedroom was very large and comfortable, albeit dusty. No en-suite sadly but bathroom was a step across the landing. Unfortunately there was no secure lock on the door which was unsettling and to make it worse, we had NO cold water in the bath, and NO hot water in the separate shower!! Very frustrating and at £75 p/n i expect the basics to work!! Only 3 Sky TV channels were available. Having said all that the owners were very nice, the food was excellent especially the cream teas and the grounds were stunning especially the views. Would i stay here again or recommend it? Sadly I wouldnt at those prices which is a great shame because it was a very peaceful location.
