“Absolutely outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

We frequently visit this restaurant and I can honestly say hand on heart it has never dissapointed us! Our children love it too! The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are proffesional, attentive and knowledgeable. The menu is fantastic without being pretentious and there are specials daily that are always a pleasure to the palate!!! Don't expect any microwave meals here! Everything is hand made by the wonderful kitchen team and even though the restaurant is busy they don't hesitate to cater to you dietary needs. I cannot reccomend this restaurant enough it really is a gem where you'll feel at home the moment you walk through the door! If your lucky you might even get a glimpse of the horns' resident ghost bob! Top marks all round!!!!!

“Can't believe it took us so long to find this gem on our doorstep!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

Initially emailed via the website to book a table for 5 (3 adult 2 children) and even then the service was great! Walked in and given a warm welcome and we were all impressed with the historic building. Initially I though the restaurant was actually the bar area which looked lovely, however we were taken to a fabulous grand dining room and seated on a great round social table! Drinks order taken with a wide selection of ales for the husband so he was happy! I had a roast, a beautiful starter, a lovely main course and then I finished off every one elses puds! The kids meals were great - homemade fish goujons and my 7 year old said it was the best meal out he's ever had, my 2 year old had a roast - despite being a childs it was pretty much adult size! Husband had a lovely lasagne with salad and garlic bread and mother a fish dish which she was not disapointed by! Puds like the rest of the menu were all home made! At the end of the meal we were not rushed for the table and the service was excellent, there if required but not overwhelming. A great meal, a lovely historical pub and fantastic service and less than 5 miles from home!! We will be back..a lot!!

“Impressed from the moment we walked in.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

We went out for a relaxed pub meal and were really impressed with the service, comfort and the lovely choice on the menu. We had a vegetarian in the group who was very pleased with the options available for her. When the food came we were not disappointed. A lovely meal.

“Something a bit different for Sunday lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

We were looking for somewhere local for Sunday Lunch and decided to try the Horns of Boningale - We hadn't booked so were lucky to get a table. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the menu was reasonably priced - we went for £12.95 for 2 courses. The menu was a bit different, such as pigeon breast or spicy chicken wings for starters, but still with your classics such as soup and prawn cocktail if not feeling adventurous! The Sunday lunch is plated, rather than carvery, served with a decent portion of vegetables and roast potatoes. There was also curry, risotto, beef bourguignon and a fish mixed grill to name a few others on offer!

What we had was served promptly, hot and delicious and will return again soon! Would recommend booking a table but the bar area looks comfortable should you have to wait.

I also noticed a poster for 2-4-1 meals on a monday and a special offer for fish and a glass of wine on a Friday which I may also investigate!

“Consistently good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Had a meal with 3 friends at the Horns last week & noticed that the menu had been changed. We all ate from the set menu & 3 of us had the soup which was delicious, pate was good too. Then we ordered 3 boeuf bourguignon & 1 fish & chips which were also lovely. The waitresses always smile & are really friendly & I will definitely keep going back.
