“A good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

If you expect a good hotel, clean and simple, with good service, this is exactly what you will get. Nothing much on the top. The staff is pleasant, the food in the restaurant is tasty. There is not much to see in and around but if you need to sleep in Almhult, this place is ok. There is a supermarket opposite the hotel for anything you might need. Keep in mind that prices in Sweden are high and the hotel bar just confirms that.

I just stayed at the IKEA hotel, and I don't have anything to complain about. The beds and room temperature were comfortable and the breakfast was very good. The rooms were very clean and the shower was great. There are some decent restaurants in town, and Elmhult Cafe and Bakery (just down the street) is a great place to grab some lunch or a cardamom roll. IKEA hotel is luxurious by any sense of the word, but it has everything that you need. Another plus is that it's only a 10 minute walk from the train station.

IKEA have a low cost and value for money culture, unfortunately they have taken it a little too far at the IKEA hotel opposite their HQ in the tiny town of älmhult, in southern Sweden. Supplier come to stay here to understand what cheap means, and they really do get a great lesson. Once beyond the relatively benign entrance, the quality crashes downward from the almost ordinary to post war east german. The bedroom are underheated. The fittings are the cheapest found in an IKEA store. A double room consists of 2 ultra narrow bed in a white room decorated only by loose cable, the occassional spider web and the last remaining 14inch cathode raytube television hanging precariously from a stand. The shower spits cool water from a thin white plastic shower header encompassed by a plastic sheet of shower curtain. The service is non existant... worse.. there is no escape.. almhult has almost no where else to visit. I have seen documentaries of scandanavian prisons.. they were warmer, better furnished, and possibly less secure than the IKEA hotel.

Room Tip: stay in Hassleholm or Vaxjo.

I'm disappointed that IKEA doesn't hold this hotel to the same level of service that it holds itself. Big groups book here. First, if you arrive 30 minutes before check-in time, they will not make any exception to get you checked in. Instead, they have a line up at the exact time of check in. No flexibility. Most have arrived after long hours of travel. Second, if you are delayed by 30 minutes on check out, they will charge you for the next night. It's not as if they were ready to check anyone in early to take the room! Lastly, if you have to cancel in advance, they will charge you one to two nights minimum. It doesn't matter if you were a large group. They are simply not empowered nor willing to show empathy.

Clean, ok place to stay. Good prices, ok breakfast and helpfull staff. Very nice and cosy lobby. Rooms basic with very comfortable beds. Standard IKEA look. Would recommend. in the center of Almhult, 10min walk from the train station, right across the Willy's supermarket and the gas station. Huge parking lot.

As an IKEA Family member we booked their promotion stay at the IKEA Inn in Älmhult. As always it was a good bargain, two nights stay with evening buffet and breakfast for two persons for less than €150. For that you get a very basic room, a double bed, one! kitchen chair, an old TV, almost no decoration, bathroom with shower curtain. Included is also IKEA's warmest blanket! The breakfast has almost everything you are used to find at a breakfast buffet, but it is basic standard and the presentation is like at school or a hospital. In the evening the dinner buffet is served at the same place. This is the best part, first course with a variety of cold dishes, heering, salmon, parma ham and more. One warm dish, for example ribs which was real good. After that you are offered some cheese and two or three choices of sweets.
But when summing up you wonder what IKEA wants to show there. It's not a place you want to come back to. It's like taking an overnight in the IKEA store and eat in the store restaurant with no windows. Why couldn't it be furnished and decorated to give inspiration?
Now it is a must overnight place for IKEA workers and business visitors, not a place for IKEA customers.

From the outside the hotel has a fairly basic appearance but as the old saying goes "one should not judge a book by its cover" It's a fairly small, compact hotel, but the facilities are perfectly adequate as a business stopover.

The receptionists were very efficient and helpful, even printing off train times for me. The rooms are modern and functional, with TV and free WiFi. Shower room/toilet is a tad cramped, but essentially it was clean and functional, and stocked with shampoo, and constant hot water. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and warm. So all in all it is very difficult to fault as a good value 3 star hotel.

The restaurant and bar is comfortable and welcoming as well as being reasonably priced. I would stay there again.
