“Poor poor customer service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

I'm disappointed that IKEA doesn't hold this hotel to the same level of service that it holds itself. Big groups book here. First, if you arrive 30 minutes before check-in time, they will not make any exception to get you checked in. Instead, they have a line up at the exact time of check in. No flexibility. Most have arrived after long hours of travel. Second, if you are delayed by 30 minutes on check out, they will charge you for the next night. It's not as if they were ready to check anyone in early to take the room! Lastly, if you have to cancel in advance, they will charge you one to two nights minimum. It doesn't matter if you were a large group. They are simply not empowered nor willing to show empathy.

Clean, ok place to stay. Good prices, ok breakfast and helpfull staff. Very nice and cosy lobby. Rooms basic with very comfortable beds. Standard IKEA look. Would recommend. in the center of Almhult, 10min walk from the train station, right across the Willy's supermarket and the gas station. Huge parking lot.

As an IKEA Family member we booked their promotion stay at the IKEA Inn in Älmhult. As always it was a good bargain, two nights stay with evening buffet and breakfast for two persons for less than €150. For that you get a very basic room, a double bed, one! kitchen chair, an old TV, almost no decoration, bathroom with shower curtain. Included is also IKEA's warmest blanket! The breakfast has almost everything you are used to find at a breakfast buffet, but it is basic standard and the presentation is like at school or a hospital. In the evening the dinner buffet is served at the same place. This is the best part, first course with a variety of cold dishes, heering, salmon, parma ham and more. One warm dish, for example ribs which was real good. After that you are offered some cheese and two or three choices of sweets.
But when summing up you wonder what IKEA wants to show there. It's not a place you want to come back to. It's like taking an overnight in the IKEA store and eat in the store restaurant with no windows. Why couldn't it be furnished and decorated to give inspiration?
Now it is a must overnight place for IKEA workers and business visitors, not a place for IKEA customers.

From the outside the hotel has a fairly basic appearance but as the old saying goes "one should not judge a book by its cover" It's a fairly small, compact hotel, but the facilities are perfectly adequate as a business stopover.

The receptionists were very efficient and helpful, even printing off train times for me. The rooms are modern and functional, with TV and free WiFi. Shower room/toilet is a tad cramped, but essentially it was clean and functional, and stocked with shampoo, and constant hot water. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and warm. So all in all it is very difficult to fault as a good value 3 star hotel.

The restaurant and bar is comfortable and welcoming as well as being reasonably priced. I would stay there again.

We arrived in the small town called Älmhult after a day in the forrest, checked in to the hotel and went to our room. It was in the backyard and was in a one floor building. I have to say that it looked worse than it was. The room was ok, the bed was very small, but for one person, it should be enough. We didn't spend much time in the hotel, but the sleep was good for me. I got the feeling it was a little noisy, but this is not an issue for me.

The breakfast was really great, when you include the cost of the room. The only thing surprised me was that they had small sausages but not the "Ikea meatballs" :)

Thanks for a good stay, I would for sure stay more times if I have the route pass through.

It's time for a small addition to my review below. As since the first of January this hotel has upgraded its breakfast buffet and it's definately up-to-standard. Now another investment in the coffee machine and I've nothing to complain anymore.

Headsup to business to all of you though; the hotel will start rebuilding after summer which is reducing the hotel capacity with about 1/3 for half a year. In this particular season the IKEA store is being build which will drive the need for hotel rooms absolutely over the edge.

Room Tip: If you can try to avoid the rooms in the low, old west wing. However they will take it down after su...

I have stayed in this hotel a few times over the past few years... always a clean, comfortable room with plentiful breakfast (of typical Swedish fare) and great WiFi connection (which is free). There is a lounge bar and the restaurant also serves lunch and dinner. The original IKEA store, with both cafe and restaurant is in the same car park, and there is a Willy's grocery store also next door, so convenient to get provisions. The hotel also has a free laudry room, just ask at the reception for them to show you where it is located on the property.

Room Tip: Pay the extra SEK 100 for a double room, you will appreciate the much larger size and most will have...
