“An impressive experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

We were only at the hotel for one night. Clearly, there is much going on by way of refurbishment - it's going to be a mammoth task BUT a good start has been made. The 'tired' decor and inefficient heating system are, I'm sure, top of the list of jobs to be done. In the meantime, the friendly, enthusiastic staff more than make up for shortcomings. The manager even took time to chat as we were signing out (how often does tat happen?!). The food was good too. Al;l round a very positive experience - we will be sure to return - hopefully with a bit more time to savour what the hotel has to offer.

Room Tip: Can't help with this one - we were lucky to get a room at all - the hotel was very busy. Given...

Dear Guest, it was a pleasure to have you staying with us. I can agree with you wholeheartedly about the "mammoth" task we have ahead. Our heating system is now being upgraded ready for winter and decoration works are in progress. As a team we work together step by step and your comments make us feel good knowing we do our job correctly. Once again many thanks for choosing Glenesk and we all look forward to your return.

What's not to like, the staff were very good and helpful the food was excellent the room had a wonderful bed in it. The hotel and bar is a foody, beer and whisky lovers delight, the Cullen Skink soup one of the best I have tasted you can have almost any beer or whisky you want, with beers from all over the world. This is a traditional Scottish country hotel as they should be, welcoming, comfortable and customer service you would expect from a luxury chain. We were treated almost as family during our short stay the facilities are of a high standard with a pool and spa, and for those who need to stay in touch an excellent Wi-Fi connection my smart phone picked it up immediately.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper take a room at the back this is a rural and busy agricultural area of Sco...

If you are looking for a hotel with a passion for customer service, comfy guest areas, great food and a kind of.. home from home… then stay here at the Glenesk Hotel.

I found this little gem when I had no luck getting into Aberdeen and I’m glad I didn’t now as I’d never had found this hotel…

The public areas are quiet, cosy and reminds me of sitting in my own living room at home, it was a real pleasure.. I found the food at the Glenesk top notch, lots of variety as I’m wheat intolerant, great service..

Had a great sleep as the beds are just sublime... super comfy...

Thank you Glenesk.. I shall be back!

We had high tea there yesterday and it was so nice. We both opted for the roast beef and yorkshire pudding....yum, yum, yum! The new owners of the hotel are from Yorkshire, so maybe that's why the little yorkies were so good.
The hotel is a wee bit tired, (well quite a lot really), but don't let that put you off - it's very clean, the food is A1 and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I'm sure the new owners will be itching to make improvements. I think they could dump the twee Sottish music playing in the background at their first available opportunity!!! Maybe any passing American guests might like it, but they are in the minority.

Dear Valued Customer, I would like to thank you for giving us such compliments and comments on the Hotel which we are putting right on a daily basis. We recently held a "celebration of my father's life" at the Glen Esk for around 40 people. The hotel has a wonderful location within the picturesque village of Edzell and next door to the renowned golf course. The new owners were incredibly helpful with the preparations and easily accommodated several of our special requests. They provided an excellent choice of menu for our guests. The meals itself was really good and service was exemplary. The bar was well stocked although they could have done with more staff on - however this was not a huge issue. The rooms at the hotel were very comfortable albeit a bit dated. The hotel has recently changed hands & the new owners were very attentive and keen to please its customers.

Working down in Brechin and decided to try the Glenesk Hotel. Lovely place - picturesque!. The food is top notch (seriously). The chef deserves a medal. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They go over and above. I will definitely return! It has a really relaxed atmosphere and if you need anything - just ask.
