It is hard to imagine more expansive & sublime views of the Mekong. The resort combines the natural beauty of its location with excellent service and food, friendly and attentive staff and comfortable and stylish bedrooms, as well as a magical infinity swimming pool that gives the impression that you are swimming in the Mekong itself. The resort is also within easy reach of Vat Phu at Champasak, one of the most important of the Khmer sites in South East Asia. This resort is a haven for travellers, and excellent value for money.

A beauty of a resort with stunning landscaped grounds made of rice paddies, excellent cuisine by a Thai chef, very charming service. The resort is brand new and in it's learning stage but you won't be sorry if you decide to stay here. We found it to be the best value-for-money proposal ever. The views of the Mekong are stunning at all hours of the Day. Nearby Wat Phou is not to be missed.

We stayed here for 7 nights and it was amazing. The rooms have glass on three sides so waking up to a sunrise was just fablulous. The views are out of this world and the view from infinity pool makes you feel in a special place
There are three balconys around the villas so you can put your chairs out to suit yourself. The rooms are spacious and have plenty of towels and amenities.
The villas are well spread out so you do not hear your neighbours. The garden settings are well maintained and lovely to walk ar.ound
They are clean and the air conditioning works really well.
The restaurant had a varied menu and the chef would always makeyour choice to suit your tastes e.g. no spices and a change of potato.
There was always an opportunity to ask for more breakfasts. if needed.
All the staff were outstanding. so pleasant and nothing too much trouble.
They always had a smile from first thing in the morning to last thing at night.
The managment do everthing to make your stay a good one and canearrange trips to Wat Phou in a Tuk Tuk or to hiring a van for the day to take you on trips across the river. The hotel has its own boat which is a lovley way to arrive especially as the sun sets.
I would stay here again no problem.
It is the only real hotel in the area as the ones in Champpasak are guests huses.

Room Tip: ASk for a room overlooking the River

This newish place has fairly decent villas on a bluff overlooking the Mekong. The main attraction for us was its proximity to the temple complex at Champasak which was an easy 20 minute ride away.

The villas are set up around some rice paddies which was very ambient. There is a sunset cruise available on the Mekong but we missed it (still at the Temple complex). The food at dinner and breakfast was good and decently priced. The staff was friendly and helpful. We arrived and within about 10 minutes they had arranged a ride to the Temple for us.

There is wifi in the room which worked well. The room was comfortable and decently appointed.

Room Tip: Pick a villa on the river side.

When one gets to Pakse and Champasak, one is likely to ask "why am I here?" The real reason is probably to see Wat Phu, but The River Resort is a better reason to visit this area that otherwise seems like a vast wasteland in the dry season. The River Resort is a superb new resort overlooking the Mekong, landscaped with rice paddies and pools. The rooms are large, and the decks or patios surprisingly big, making them an inviting place to spend time relaxing. The air con keeps the rooms comfortable no matter how hot it is outside. The bathroom is large enough to spread things out, and there are two showers, one inside, one outside. Wifi is good in the rooms and in the restaurant.

The infinity swimming pool is large and pleasing, with a view over the river that almost makes it seem one is swimming in the Mekong.

Meals are very good. Service is really good and attentive. This place goes all out to make one's stay as pleasant as possible.

Only complaint is about the bicycles, which are free to use to ride into town. This is an expensive place, especially for Champasak, but the bicycles are of exceptionally poor quality. They are too small for Americans, which makes them tippy and uncomfortable, even for expert cyclers.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper room overlooking the river--but an upper room overlooking the pond is OK, too.

The River Resort is a perfectly built resort of several villas with most of them on the river front, thus giving a fantastic view of the gently flowing Mekong - if you are sitting inside the room, the complete glass front gives an unobstructed view - or if you are on the balcony, then there is a comfortable bamboo sofa to rest yourself with a glass of wine and enjoy the scenery. It is at a point where the river is quite wide, and the tranquil scene adds to the quiet surrounding of the Resort. The villas are well furnished, beds are firm and very comfortable, spacious and altogether good value for the price. The staff are very friendly and lovely people, helpful and their relaxed easy going manner all contribute to a calming and relaxing environment. The swimming pool is of average size - adequate for the size of the Resort.
It is only about 1 hour car journey from the border with Thailand at Chong Mek, and the road is good. Champasak nearby is of local interest, with Wat Phou a short tuktuk journey away (UNESCO world heritage site).
The restaurant serves up a small but well selected range of food reasonably priced - very tasty and reasonably priced. Try the chicken larp! or the Mekong fish (whether Lao or Western style - just as good). It is slightly raised, and so one has a good view of the Mekong while imbibing or satisfying one's hunger. Part of the hotel grounds are padi fields, the vibrant green of the young rice plants adds to the beauty of the hotel surrounding. I recommend it highly.

This place consists of chalets set amongst rice fields on the banks of the Mekong. Our room was directly on the banks, and its large glass front admitted a stunning sunrise view. It was an easy motorbike trip out to see the temple at Champasak - probably around 20 minutes or so. (There was a road diversion when we were there - this is probably shorter when there isn't.) The restaurant's terrace also overlooks the quiet river, and there is a pleasant pool (a godsend in the heat!) The food was nice - nothing to write home about though - and all the prices are in dollars, which partially disguise inflated food prices (compared to what one can get in Pakse, for instance.) However, they weren't intrinsically high by western standards. This is a retreat - a place, probably for the end of a long SE Asia trip.
