The Highlander has potential to be really good. Their downstairs pub/restaurant was great. Ate there twice. Unique high quality specials, terrific pub food and great beer. And a single malt collection to knock your socks off! Amazing selections from all over Scotland and around the world. You can even select them by your year of birth. Outstanding. Breakfasts were also good - in a separate room with a very nice lounge for overnight guests. So nothing to complain about on the food side of the Inn.
The rooms at The Highlander were clean, modern but quite small. The biggest problem is their bathrooms - all ensuites recently installed as 'wet rooms' where the shower is in one corner, with a curtain, and the floor of the bathroom has a drain. Still that could work - bathroom itself was fine - modern. But.... Poor ventilation and not enough thought about how to deal with moisture created means the bedroom wall-to-wall carpet immediately outside the bathroom is about 2 inches of black mold. Ugh! This needs to be dealt with immediately -- solve this and I'd stay again in a second. But for now any return would be only to eat -- or drink.
