Delightful stay. Friendly staff excellent food and quiet. Highly recommended, and dog friendly too.
Choose this inn to explore the local area and pamper yourself at the same time. Beds are large and very comfortable. Rooms are well equipped.

Room lovely, ensuite better than those we have had in top hotels. Food excellent, a wide range menu and well presented. You need to book if going for a meal as it was full over the two days we were there. We met guests who had been coming back year after year. I agree about the limp toast at breakfast and probably too much chunky apple in the fruit salads, but that is minor.
We would say that this Pub ticks every box. We will be going back.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the garden and was perfect

Spent here recently a few night and already planning to return, as my stay was very comfortable, the rooms VERY clean, tidy and tasty / new furnished, bathroom was better than a 4star swanky hotel, everything was in place, working and as a result my stay was care free and pleasant. The food served is great, very tasty, overall a very enjoyable experience thanks to a friendly service& a v good atmosphere. Thank you for all your hard work, will be back very soon!

First visit yesterday, food fantastic, highly recommend. Walked from Dartington to the restaurant, and caught the train back from Staverton Station, also worth a visit.
Lovely day out
We had the Sunday Roast and the Sea Bass, both perfectly cooked and presented, no room for dessert that will be next time. Not overly busy plenty of room and the wine was good too.

A lovely country pub out in the countryside half a mile from the steam train station. We were upgraded for free to the annex room which is a beautifully furnished living room and bedroom. It was very new and clean and seemed luxurious. The bed was very comfy and there were two flat screen TVs. Unfortunately as soon as we used the toilet we discovered it was blocked and was beginning to overflow. It took nearly 3 hours to mend, they had to get an emergency plumber in. The owner tried to find us alternative accomodation as the pub was full but to no avail as everything for 50 miles was full. Luckily the emergency plumber fixed it and the bathroom was recleaned. We spent three hours sat around in dirty clothes waiting to get washed and changed for dinner though and the owner kept saying 'we're not at fault, you're not at fault' as if we had equal responsibility to the management for the problem. They did give us a bottle of house wine as an apology however. Breakfast was fine: fresh fruit, muesli, cereals. There was a good choice of hot food including smoked haddock, kippers, full English. It was a shame that the toast wasn't as good as the previous night's bread. Well worth staying at but check the plumbing

We booked this place at the last minute and spent 3 nights staying here. It is in great location for visiting places in the area, such as Totnes and we received a warm welcome. the room was really nice and the bathroom was new, with a great shower. I would have no hesitation in staying again, plus the food and beer was great, the burger and proper real chips especially!

There are a few lovely lanes to walk down, including one that takes about 10 minutes and takes you to a lovely stream and the railway line where the 'vintage' trains that you pass on the way to the Inn run by.
