My husband and I read the reviews in Lonely Planet and figured, Why not?
We took the short drive from Tamarindo to Brasilito, and after a day at the beach, decided to stop. Kevin, the "happy and smiling" man greeted us, thrusting menus in our faces through our car window. Since we made the visit to check this place out, he didn't have to do a lot of convincing. The place was dingy and a bit gross, but we figured, tropics, and on the beach. Kevin offered me a "special cocktail" "On the house" he said. I obliged, and we perused the menu. While waiting for our food, we watched Kevin accost every car that drove by, pushing menus in the windows. After waiting forever for our food (we were the only two people there) we were brought out our dishes. The food was horrible. My shrimp was shriveled into little hard disks, and the rice was so burned and fried that I couldn't eat it. The real shocker came when we received the bill. It was our tenth day in CR and we ate at some really lovely places. However, this beach pit ended up being the MOST expensive place we ate at... Huh!? We paid but upon leaving, my husband inquired about the bill. That is when Kevin whipped out his calculator and added everything up. Was that cocktail on the house as he originally said? NO. He also inflated each dish price to several dollars more than it appeared on the menu. When we tried to call him out on it, he huffed and puffed and got defensive. We were so appalled and disgusted that we drove away angry and upset that we had been taken for a ride so badly. The food is not worth it folks,
