“Pleasant hotel, dodgy accounting”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

What a shame! The hotel is very pleasant, architecturally a bit severe for me, but the food is excellent, it's right on its own, well kept, beach and the staff friendly. Rooms were clean and reasonable, but no ironing board. However, the whole stay left a sour taste in our mouths because of unsavoury financial practice. The hotel asked us to transfer two nights costs in advance, which we did. They told us on check out that the transfer was €10 short. It was clear that their bank had deducted this as charges, but we had to pay the extra. Despite email exchanges they would not accept the fact that our bank had transfered the full amount and my last email was simply ignored. It's not the €10, it's the principle. They should not try to ignore the customer or fob them off with silly stories. What would have happened if the bank deductions had been €100?

Dear Valued Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to bring your feedback to our attention.

We are very sorry to read that there was an accounting reason to be dissatisfied with Elysium Resort & Spa, although as you mention clearly in your review you found the food services, our rooms and staff friendliness to be of high standards.

Regarding the issue mentioned in your review we would like to clarify once again that Elysium Resorts & Spa has not received the exact amount of the total of your stay, when the transaction was made, and therefore asked you kindly to pay the remaining balance. The transaction fees charged by any bank, those differ from bank to bank and country policies are charges that involve the client and the bank and not the bank with the hotel. Therefore the hotel cannot ask any bank to refund any amount when this amount applies in a standard transaction procedure. Once again we state that the hotel has only charged and received the total amount of the room cost for your total of your stay and nothing more. We regret reading your review on TripAdvisor, although we had a prior correspondence explaining to you the above mentioned facts.

As you were part of a group of guests participating in an event in our resort, we would like to inform you that we received a positive feedback from the majority of them, mentioning their great and relaxing experience in Elysium Resort & Spa.

As far as your room is concerned, all the amenities listed for each room type are clearly displayed on our website and in all our partners’ brochures and feel sorry to note your expressed discontent in regards to the lack of an ironing board.

Once again thank you for your comments and very much hope that perhaps you might consider returning to Elysium at some point in the future.

Best Regards,
Elysium Resort & Spa

We have just got back from our holiday , the hotel was amazing ,clean, and food great.we stayed in room 1331 main building, with a wonderful sea view and large balconly, the staff were very friendly and helpful.the hotel shop was stocked for all your needs,if you have forgotten anything.the beach is shingle ,but wearing a pair of flip flops solves that ,also the sea is so clear and a lovely to swim in,the beach is kept clean and was very relaxing.we had a shower booked for the last day ,as we had a late flight home, with no problems, the hotel also gave us a dinner voucher to use ,as we had missed dinner the first night we arrived, this could be used at lunch or dinner on our last day.we had a amazing time ,and would recommend a holiday here.

Room Tip: Elite rooms have coffee and tea making facilities ,our room was sea view and lovely but if you want...

We have just arrived back from this hotel. The food is excellent and they never run out of any of the choices, however the service is not so good, have to wait for staff to take drinks orders in the evening and coffee in the morning. Entertainment quite poor quality. Around the pool area needs attention to cleaning, we never saw anyone clean around the chairs and tables all the time we were there (10 nights), lots of hairs etc. It needs these to be addressed to keep its 5 stars.

Room Tip: Most rooms have sea views, which are excellent.

Dear Valued Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to bring your feedback to our attention. It is always regrettable to note that there were some issues that caused some dissatisfaction with your stay and would like to offer our apology for any inconvenience caused.
Cleanliness is of paramount importance to us and this is reflected by the excellent feedback received in this field by nearly all the hotel guests since the hotel’s opening. We ensure you that all areas and especially the pool area is always cleaned first thing early every morning and every evening after 19:00 when the pool operation stops, in order to avoid guest’s disturbance, by our housekeeping staff and maybe this is why you did not see somebody doing so during the time you enjoyed the specific area. In any case we would like to thank you for your feedback and assure you that all comments made have been relayed to the chief housekeep for further evaluation.
We are genuinely sorry to note that you felt that the service was not punctual during dinner as well as for any negative impacts this may had on your meal experience. We can only stipulate however that this may have been an isolated event and would like to stress that we strongly encourage guests to report any issues directly on either the maitre d’ of the hotel or the Food & Beverage manager that are always present during service hours so as to rectify any problems when and if they occur.
On behalf of the management and staff we would like to warmly thank you for the positive comments made regarding our hotel rooms and their extra ordinary sea view.
Thank you once again for your rewarding comments and we hope that we will have the pleasure to welcome you again in our resort in the not so distant future.

Best Regards,
Elysium Resort & Spa

We spent 4 nights, which were nothing but fantastic.
The hotel is spacious, the staff is super kind, the view from the room was exceptional and everything felt clean and new.
The beach is a touch away from the excellent pool and the atmosphere is just relaxing and superb.
A bus station is right at the entrance to the hotel, making it very easy to get to Rhodos town (20 min drive).

Do yourself a favor and go there.

Room Tip: Make sure you booked a room in the Helios building or Main building and that you have a full see vie...

Pleasant stay. Modern well equpped rooms. Poor internet service. Very nice breakfast. Elite lounge not special. A few snacks, soft drinks, some champagne but no other wines. Short distance from town. Lovely pools, beautiful view, nice beach with beach chairs and umbrellas.

Room Tip: Elite sea view rooms have a beautiful view. Worth the extra price which was not a lot.

Rhodes is not without beauty and it certainly has in the Elysium a hotel which should make the island proud. I only stayed in the elite section which was perfect in terms of the service amenities and foods. The noble restaurant is unbelievably good should have a Michelin star.
All my expectations were meet
