Have just got home from the Board Inn and had to write whilst the memory of the wonderful time spent there is fresh in my mind! With a wife and two labradors I looked for a hostelry which could accomodate both, the Board Inn website and their really helpful manner on the phone convinced me.
On arrival we were met by Karen and Alistair and greeted by their dog, their friendliness, helpfulness and easy going attitude made us feel at home straight away. Our room was clean, spacious and had all the amenities anybody could need and more!
Now for the food. It was brilliant, superbly cooked locally reared meat and so much of it - the taste, flavour and tenderness of the meat - magnificent and all in huge Yorkshire helpings!
The wine list was one of the most interesting I have seen for a long time and at prices that didn't make me choke. After dinner we were able to bring the two dogs in who lay down in front of the fire whilst we made a start tasting some of the wide selection of single malts.
Breakfast was another feast, either full English with proper local bacon and sausages or kippers direct from Whitby.
Lealholme is a picturesque village with the river flowing through and under the bridge, a short drive (less than a mile) up the road takes you onto the moors or go the other way to Whitby and the coast.
We had a brilliant time at The Board Inn and will definitely go back there it really was a stay to remember.
Thank you Karen and Alistair.
