“Run by goverment - old / unclean”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

The view and terrace is indeed amazing and makes the place better but the room itself is not good. Matrass was wet which made sleeping terrible. Prices for food and drinks are cheap. They only have fan which for such a big room is not sufficient

this place was the perfect place to stay at while visiting sinharaja rain forest. they organise everything for you including a packed sandwich lunch :) they also have delicious curries and food. the rooms did the job, very large and clean enough. they even organised us a taxi to our next stop which took five hours and they charged us less than other taxis. I would recommend staying here

Rooms were really spacious and comfortable. However, they are a a little old and can do better with a bit of touching up.

Also, the water pressure for the hot water shower could be improved greatly. A little too little water for a comfortable shower.

Nice fried rice and noodles. Guide to Sinharaja arranged by the rest house were really good too.

Nice localization at 5 min by foot from the bus station. The view on the jungle is great. Good base camp for excursion to sinharaja rain forest. Rooms are big and clean . Food and service also nice. Excursions can be booked directly from the guesthouse.

stayed here while checking out Sinharaja forest reserve( which is awesome). a double room cost 2000 rupees a night. rooms were big and clean. the view from the verandah is what makes this place. food was ok but much cheaper options 500m down in the town. seems a bit of a local watering hole so its a bit noisy until midnight. would stay here again.

Room Tip: furthest from the dining area

I found this place by accident when I took a wrong turn heading north on the A17. I was glad to find it, although a little dubious of the collection of locals it attracts for a night of drinking. My room was large, so large I could have held my own party there. It is basic, but I liked this about it, it really feels like you could be the old colonial planter who is roughing it! The food was good and the service friendly and helpful.

The rooms very big and spacious but very damp and spartan. The tap only has cold running water but the staff will heat some water for your shower, if needed. The manager arranged our trip to Sinharaja and got us connected with Chaminda - our guide, who was amazing at spotting wildlife in the park.

Tip: Pay as you go or everything comes with a 10% service tax in the bill, even the guide and transportation charge for Sinharaja.

Room Tip: Avoid staying here on weekends. This is probably the only place in town that serves liquor and we ha...
