“Unassuming but very home-like food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

I had been to Sanman restaurant for dinner while on my visit to Alibaug and found the place very simplistic to start with. The ambiance was alright, but the place was still near-full (on a weekday!) with diners.
Being a vegetarian, I ordered the only available option - the veg thali. And loved it. My daughter loved the sev-kheer sweet that came with it, and we loved the whole meal, and the soul-kadi.
At less than Rs 100, it's a steal...and you can also buy unpolished rice and home made papadams from the restaurant counter!

“One of the best seafood in Maharashtra.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

If you plan to travel from Mumbai to Alibaug/Murud/Kashid, make sure you save dinner/lunch at this place.
We were a group of three and the taste of seafood forced us to order a total 8 dishes. In the order of "unmissability".
1. Chimbori (Crab) Masala
2. Surmai (Kingfish) Fry
3. Kalva (Mussel) Pulao
4. Pomfret Fry
5. Bombil (Bombay Duck) Fry
6. Prawn Fry
7. Tisaraya (Oyster) Masala
8. Surmai Masala

Its not that the dishes lower in the order are less tasty, its just that if I had to go back and order a meal when my stomach was half full I'd probably order the first four. :)

This is one of the very good beach front properties I have visited. It is a new construction and amenities are first class.

“Good fish at a place known for its fish ;)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2012

Sanman hotel...the saving grace of our fish hunt in Alibaug. the hotel we were staying at didnt have good fish at all...and since i had read up on sanman on tripadvisor, i thought i'd check it out. good menu, good fresh fish and friendly waiters. this is a modest and small place, but you'll find what you need here. Do try their prawns fry and tisrya (mussel) pulao. very good indeed. we also had the fish thalis. Do try when in Alibaug.

“Sea food for malwani taste”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2012

A simple, relatively small and non A/c place for mouth watering sea food. Easily approachable as it is located immediately after one enters Alibaug. Variety of sea foods like different fish(including Jitada which is available only in this region), crabs, prawns, Kalav(oyster), Tisarya, etc. The fried fish are excellent but one should also try crab masala and kalav sukha. The lunch time is always full and waiting time could be longer on weekends. The dinner could be very nice and peaceful. One should have masala with rice bhakari(a marathi version of south indian appalam).

This is one of the places to visit if you are in Alibaug or passing Alibaug.
