“It's good, a little over priced but food is good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Based on the web site I would suggest that good is a fair rating for this B & B. No sign of Richard but Celia was always about and seemed to do everything. Perhaps this was why her initial greeting was a little abrupt. Our inability to find out how to lock the bedroom door and our initiative to lock the outside door and take the key for a couple of hours did not savour favour either as it turned out the neighbouring room's occupants could not get in. A little explanation about the doors and dodgy locks would have resolved this issue. (Later even found out the key and lock issue is in the hotel guide!)
Rooms were lovely and clean, fresh and pleasant. The Creole Room does not as it says have a bathroom. It has a shower room which is very small. Food was lovely (perhaps the starter was a little meagre) and feeding the 12 guests with the same fare for 3 courses should have delivered the meal for a little less than £28 a head. No waste and very local produce should mean better vfm. No complaints about the wine and bar prices. All pretty reasonable and nice range of whiskies. The lounge/drawing room was comfortable too and ideal for coffee. Staff were first class. Breakfast, ordered after the main meal the night before, was excellent although the staff struggled to get them out quickly to eat together. No waste there either other than the food that was left by some who could not eat the full Scottish. Loads of tea and toast on demand and the fruit juice and cereals and fruit were varied and tasty. Celia was more relaxed on our departure and appeared to have got over the key issue! She's actually a charming hostess who would appear to have far too much to do! Would we return. Probably just to soak up more of the estate and try some shooting and fishing..

Room Tip: take your pick but not Creole if you like a bath. Indian Room had a lovely big corner bath.

Thank you for writing a review.
I'm sorry you felt that Richard's presence was missed - he would have been delighted for you to join him for a G & T in the lambing shed. He was in full flow in the sheep shed, lambing 1000 organic ewes! At this time of the year, as a working organic farm he is only to be found in the sheep shed.
If you do decide to return during the shooting season, you will have Richard's undivided attention from dawn until dusk, as he runs all the shoot days!

We stayed here for one night which was absolutley amazing the staff food and the room was superb, the bath to die for but most of all its dog friendly. Even though it was a busy lambing time we were very well looked after.

We pride ourselves on being dog friendly. Blake, Craig, Skippy and Ben certainly enjoy making new canine friends! It's lovely to hear that you enjoyed your brief stay.

We booked this from a 'travelling with dogs' guide as first night stay in Scotland. Most impressed with overall friendliness and hospitality. Themed room was spacious and well equipped overlooking courtyard. Dining room was several notches above most establishments. Of the 5 locations visited on our Scotland trip we rated this the best!

We had a really nice stay of 3 days. It is a country house and has a very homely and intimate feel. Celia, Richard and Nicola were very welcoming and friendly. Our room was huge and easily accommodated 2 adults, a nearly teenager and a dog without feeling cramped. The food is superb. If you want five-star luxury and modern decor it won't suit you.

This was our 4th visit to Craigadam, we visited 3 times last year planning our wedding in Scotland and decided Craigadam was the perfect place to have our reception and honeymoon. During our visits last year we stayed dinner, bed and breakfast and each time we stayed in a different room, all of which were spacious, clean and cosy. The meals were always fantastic, and I am a very fussy eater but there was never anything I could say no to! There was definitely no other choice for our wedding meal.
This year we stayed in the cottage for the week and Celia organised a fabulous wedding reception for us. We did however have the wettest day for our wedding but as Celia and Richard's home is so beautiful we still had pictures we could be proud of.
The cottage is the most well equipped holiday home we have ever stayed in, and with having 2 children this was a godsend. The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them.
We are overjoyed with our time at Craigadam and we know we will be visiting time and time again, not only is it fantastic for the two of us to have a romantic break away but we can bring the children for a brilliant family holiday. Craigadam feels like a second home to us now, we only travelled home today and I can not wait to go back already!

We had very high expectations before arriving at Craigadam for four days of roe buck stalking in early June. After all the positive things we had read about the hospitality and great food, we could easily have been disappointed. Our hope was to find a place we would like to come back to, time and time again, where great humor and genuine Scottish hospitality are flourishing. We found just that! Celia & Richard, Ralph, Kevin, Tristan (our stalkers) and all the staff at Craigadam exceeded our high expectations! The food is fantastic, well made and local. Among only well made dishes the home smoked salmon and duck was world class. If you want to go roe buck hunting, pheasant or partridge shooting or just want to relax in a great atmosphere, do not miss any chance to go to Craigadam. We will not miss a chance to tell people we know about Craigadam. We will be back for sure. We wish you all the best. Jorn and Michal from Denmark.

This was our last night in Scotland and for that we had chosen this B&B because we both come from a rural background in Australia. At the end of a 6 week holiday we were getting fairly tired. But we were welcomed ( after getting lost!) warmly and provided with afternoon tea. It should be noted that the rooms are all on the ground floor grouped around a central water feature / courtyard. We appreciated this as we did not have to drag suitcases up stairs. The motel type rooms are spacious and themed, which is pleasant. Richard was delightful and although without his wife to assist in the dining room later, clearly it was no impediment. There was a somewhat happily worn air around the house, and the honesty bar was appreciated in the billiard room. Dinner was fabulous - easily one of the best meals we have had in our travel around Europe and the UK. The food was well prepared and cooked, and we loved the freshest of tastes with vegetables and 'to die for' soup. Breakfast was available at our early check out. Would recommend immediately for professional or business couples wanting a rural retreat.
