The resort is in an excellent location and it is worth to take a walk around the resort in the evenings. Has good vehicle parking space, sit out area and play things to kids busy.
The rooms are in two floors and are quite spacious. Food too is available in the resort. Food is is oily but manageable.
But here is the disappointing part. The rooms are not maintained clean. The bathroom had leaking pipes. The water was very muddy and not worth to wash face or take bath. We could not take bath due to muddy water. On checking with the resort staff, they said the water purifier was having some problem, the overhead tank was cleaned and will be fixed in short while but as long as we stayed (2 days) there was muddy water in taps and quite dangerous too. We ended up using mineral water even to brush. The bathroom was in pitiable condition and not clean. The bath towels and bed linen were dirty.
Since the resort is surrounded by forest there are lot of mosquito's and bugs but the resort staff do not have mosquito/bug repellents. If you keep the room open for some time be sure to ave lot of bugs for company for dinner.
Yercaud has tremendous power problem and there is power outage for at least 8 hours a day. Though the resort has generator, they wont put on the generator during day time beyond 9 in morning. The reason is your not supposed to stay in rooms during day time and they will switch on the generator only if guests are occupied in all rooms. This was ridiculous and the staff refused to turn on the generator.
In summer there is shortage of mineral water bottles too in the resort. So better buy them outside and keep a good stock. Food available for dinner is mainly Chinese which we found surprising. But we could manage. So no complaints about food. The service is slow and sometimes painful but you should expect that in such hilly areas.
Yercaud as a place is wonderful. The chakra temple is a must must visit. Lady's seat and pakoda point also worth visiting. Kiliyur falls will have no water in summer and we heard it is quite a steep climb up and down by walk (~1km). So if there are ladies beware of this climb distance and take enough water. The lake is over crowded in evenings but boating is worth (choose paddle boat, you get 30 mins). There are couple of parks around the lake for relaxing. Boating in the lake closes at 6pm. Temperature in yercaud is in high 30's (although less humid) in summer.
The only decent hotel in yercaud is shevaroys hotel having veg/non veg food. But its over crowded and service is utterly pathetic. They dont even clear the tables on time.
All in all, yercaud can be visited for a day or two to relax. The drive on the ghat is pleasant. (beware 20 hair pin bends).
