GRT Sky Rocca is honestly the only highlight of Yercaud. Yercaud is not one of the coldest or beautiful hill stations that I have been to in South India. However, let me concentrate on my review of GRT Sky Rocca.
This property is BEAUTIFUL. Set on exactly the 20th hairpin bend, this property is very easy to find. On entry, you will be welcomed by a very enthusiastic front desk, security, bell boy etc who sit you down and take you through the check-in procedure. Once done, you are escorted to your room. If you are in a panorama view room, then you are definitely having a slice of heaven. Its beyond beautiful. You can sit in the balcony and enjoy some YOU or WE time without being disturbed by any sound and enjoy the bustling trees of the ghats and the beautiful birds. Everyone in the hotel is very helpful. None of the staff members pass by you without saying a very honest and beautiful "Vanakkam" which makes you feel so special. The kids playing area is the best that I have every seen. It is kid-friendly, safe and clean. The pool is good but it gets really cold towards the evening, but that I think is the part of being at a "hill station". The restaurant staff Selvan, Chef Muthu and the two trainee ladies are very courteous, helpful and hardworking. They had to boil milk packets that I had taken for my son from bangalore and give it to me in a flask. They always did it promptly without making me wait. Arun is an awesome guy and he has two trainees who assist him who are well mannered, knowledgeable and helpful. Also, there were two interconnected rooms given to me, which made it look like I was living in a big house (I had my wife, kid and parents with me) which I thought was very thoughtful by Arun. However, there are few areas of improvement from my end that I want to suggest.
1. Provide water bottles even on the day of checkout. The checkout is at 12:00 PM and hence, providing 2 water bottles would be a nice thing to do.
2. Add some lights in the kids playing area.
Will I go to Yercaud again, Maybe not. Will I go to GRT again? Ofcourse Yeah!!!!!
