“Well run establishment & friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2014

The hotel is nicely situated near the River Ant with good access to Norwich and Wroxham. All of the staff are friendly and helpful and we could not fault the service. The evening meals we had during our weekend stay were of a good standard and the breakfast was very good (especially the poached eggs!). The bar area has lots of comfy seating and the environment is very relaxed. The hotel room was of a good size, however the only criticism would be that the bathroom did not have anywhere to put toiletries apart from on the actual sink and the shower was very small and again there was nowhere to put your own toiletries (there were some supplied by the hotel affixed to the wall). Overall I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again

A short one night stopover while viewing boats locally,i found this place excellent for a short visit. We booked 2 double rooms.the place was cosy with excellent young staff. The American barman was fantastic, knowledgable about the wines on offer and a great conversationalist.it is a standard small hotel with bar, restaurant and rooms with little else on offer, but it is very clean and tidy. Bathroom a little small,no bath and a compact shower but more than acceptable for a night or a week-end away.food was standard fayre for this type of establishment but plenty of choice well prepared, well cooked and presented very well.Full cooked breakfast was very good, but the continental and cold choice could have been better. One final comment is to say what fantastic value for money we got on the rooms, all round a excellent little place.

Room Tip: if you have anyone with mobility problems the ground floor rooms are excellent, with a slope up to th...

These comments only refer to the restaurant.

I was a guest in a large party and whilst the staff worked hard and were very pleasant, it soon became obvious that, with two other parties as well as a few other tables, they were woefully short-handed. Firstly, we were not situated in the area which we were previously told that had been allotted to us, the reason for which should have been conveyed to our host before we arrived. Early on, we had a small accident when a vase of flowers was overturned which resulted in the water therein seeping closer and closer to me as the meal went on, there being no effort by the staff to mop up although I must admit that they were all rushing around to serve meals and drinks.

Regarding my meal, my main course was described as being succulent slices of roast beef, which, quite frankly they were not - it was an obvious grey unappetising lump from a catering pack. I would hasten to add though that the accompanying vegetables were excellent as was my first course of pate.

Being a local resident, I would state that I have recorded these comment in an effort to be contructive as it is in my own interests to have a good restaurant in the area.

I have stayed here many times over the last four years and have always have been very pleased with my stay, the service at the hotel and the quality of the food served. Has improved as the years have gone by, its an excellent base to visit the broads from and would recommend it to anyone who is visiting this part of the country, it is a hotel I always look forward to visiting and always will when I am in the area

The staff are very helpful and friendly. The food was very good and the bar very comfortable. Good location for exploring the area. We visited the beach to see the seal colony. We would definitely stay again.

Called in for lunch, and wow! Lots of choices, good service, lovely atmosphere. Great for families, couples, and parties. Our lunches were well cooked, large portions and very tasty. All home cooked and deceptively filling! Sadly we did not have room to sample the dessert menu. Next time we will make sure to be starving before we order!

This is a fantastic hotel which is friendly, clean and inviting! The food is amazing given that Marco Pierre White company owns it! My only problem is with the rooms! They are just tired and need bringing into the 21st Century! If they did this then the hotel would be first class! Lets hoping they are refurbished during 2014. The staff are just brillant!
