We wanted to run away and get married at the Whitehouse, and it was more than I could have ever dreamed.. Thanks to Amy McHugh of Dream Makers Vacation Services and Rouchelle my wedding advisor at the Whitehouse...
I am not the type of person that has or takes the time to post information on the internet, however I made it a point to sign up for Trip Advisor just because of Sandals Whitehouse.
This is the most beautiful place I have ever seen and the service is by far the BEST I have ever received. From the time we arrived until the day we left, Sandals proved to us that they stand out from all other resorts.
You may read postings about the drive to the Whitehouse, it is far from the airport in Montego Bay, but for us, it was a chance to see the Country outside of the hot tour spots. It was wonderful to us and we didn't have any issues with the hour and a half drive, the drivers take the time to tell you about the country and the people that live there, you are visiting thier home and they want you take interest... If all you interested in is how long it takes to get somewhere, then drive it yourself, I bet you can't do it... We put trust into the person that drove, because that is what they do for a living and honestly they are better drivers than the people in Hampton Roads VA and most roads I have traveled in the US, because they have something called courtesy and look out for other people on the road.. More than I can say for most of us on the road here. They are outstanding people, and they do not work for Sandals, so please tip them, they do not work for Sandals.. Think about it too, how much would you pay for an hour and half ride in a cab...
Upon arrival to the resort, you are greeted with a warm smile telling you "Welcome Home", a cold towel and a glass of champagne... Check in was a breeze and the staff couldn't be more eager to assist you..
The property is beyond beautiful and you have a 2 mile of white sand beach, beautiful blue water, with views of the Jamiacian hillsides.. This beach just belongs to the Whitehouse, so there is no outside vendors to deal with.. The buildings are beautiful, the grounds are clean. So much care is taken at this resort it is unbelievable... You can get up at 6am and see people raking the beaches and cleaning the pools.. They take pride in this resort and it shows.
The rooms are outstanding. We stayed in the Dutch Village with a Grand Deluxe catagory... We had a beautiful room that over looked the Sea and the Dutch pool.. Our housekeeping staff was outstanding as well... We always greeted her in passing and told her to have a nice day and she would repay us by placing a fresh flower by the bedside.. As for the people that complain about how the rooms smelled, or ants, or a rip in a curtain... Get real... Ok, you are in a place that is never cold, the humidity is high, so if you encounter a little mold or moisture, get over it... As for a rip in a curtain, it is more than likely us that visit that tear things up.. So for those people that are like that, my advice, stay home.
The food, was wonderful... I recommend Eleanors for a nice sit down breakfast and Bayside had the best buffet for whatever you might want.. Bluefields for tasty jerk chicken. Giuseppe's for dinner outstanding food for dinner... We can say the entire stay there was not a bad thing to eat... The Cafe De Paris was always open for outstanding Blue Mountain coffee and delectable pastries (everyday there was something different).. The service is better and more friendly than any restaurants that I have paid high dollar for.
The staff... There is no words that can describe the people that work at the Whitehouse... I read some reviews that called them rude, some that proclaim that the staff took things from them.. To have been there myself, to those people that state that, BULL... You must have been so stuck up or basically lied.. The people at the Whitehouse where so friendly and caring, they will bend over backwards for you. There was not one person we encountered that didn't greet us with a smile, offer to help or take the time to sit and talk to us. As for the staff taking anything, I left a two thousand dollar ring on the tub and it was still there.. One day I forgot to lock my safe and everything was still there.. Also one thing I must say, if you respect them, they show you the same.. So for all those that proclaimed they were rude, you must have been the same to them.
Some tips: If you don't have an travel agent and want to vist Whitehouse, contact Amy McHugh of Dream Makers Vacation services, she is AWESOME!!!! She is far beyond a travel agent, she even called me during our stay to make sure everything was ok, find that in another agent, bet you can't... Another thanks to her for all the other unexpected special surprises she did for us during our stay : )
Don't miss Pirate Dinner, this takes place on Thursdays, but sign up when you check in.
Don't miss White Night, Tuesdays, they have an outstanding Marching band and a Chocolate buffet that is to die for!!
Take a Bubba Keg with you, they will fill these up at the swim up bars or the Dutch bars with no problems Mon. It keeps your drinks cold for a long time and you don't have to keep taking the glasses from the bar (drinks get hot fast in those).
If you want to have dinner at Eleanors, make reservations...
Also book a private dinner on the beach, worth the extra money.. So is the Spa.. Worth every extra penny.
In closing, our stay far exceeded our expectations in every aspect. This is the place to go to leave the rest of the world behind.
