“Fun Time At Sandals Whitehouse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

A year ago, we were looking for another great Sandals Vacation. Our travel agent, Sarah Gladstone at Beach Bum Vacations, recommended Sandals Whitehouse. Our trip their in June 2013 was great! Great service. Great food. Great accommodations. Great pools. Great beaches. Very large resort, with lots of opportunities for fun. Our exursions in Jamaica were also great. The trip culminated with a fantastic Manager's reception / dinner we were invited to as a Sandals Select member and returning guest. Wow. It was awesome. We'll be returning to Sandal's again! Mark H.

Room Tip: Ocean view. 2nd floor. Quiet with great view not too many stairs.

My wife and I chose Sandals Whitehouse to celebrate our 20th anniversary. This was our second trip to a Sandals Resort we thoroughly loved it! From the moment we checked in my wife and I knew that this would be a memorable week.

Restaurants:
During the week we ate at all of the restaurants and we were not disappointed. I have several food allergies and I was happy that the wait staff inquired about allergies on their first contact with us for each meal; the chef at each restaurant was notified by the wait staff and came out to discuss what meals could be prepared around my allergies. Each meal was more than I expected and suffice it to say I did not go away hungry. I was pleased that emphasis was placed on making sure that everyone enjoyed their meal.......I have never had this type of service in any restaurant at home, it is always "fend for yourself".

Room:
We loved the ocean view and being next to the "Jerk Pit" didn't hurt either (I love the smell of a barbeque). The rooms were a comfortable size and the hotel staff was great - turndown service every night and we never experienced any problems or shortages of linens/supplies.

Dive Shop:
My wife and I are both divers and we dove every day that we were at Sandals Whitehouse. The crew on the dive boat was OUTSTANDING! Alton - the Captain, Domaine - divemaster, Carlton (AK "Stringbean") - divemaster, and the rest of the Aquatics staff made each day/dive a great experience. On Saturday, September 21st, we participated in a reef clean up with the dive staff and Charles (Sandals Resorts Inc. dive consultant) and his wife Janet. After almost an hour on a shallow reef I was thoroughly impressed. We were there to remove trash from the reefs but we were not able to find any! The reefs were free of trash/debris.

Entertainment:
My wife and I attended and participated in several of the shows that are presented nightly and we had a blast at each one. Chelton, Wayon, and the rest of the entertainment staff are to be commended.....they all made this a FUN experience.

On our anniversary day the staff placed a card with a customized dessert place in our room to congratulate us - we had not asked for the special attention but it really made our day!

As I said before, this was our second trip - but not our last. While there we booked another trip for next year although the next one will be to Ocho Rios so that we can bring our teenage son. Definitely coming back to Whitehouse in the future!

My girlfriend and I made the great choice of coming here for a relaxing and romantic holiday trip. We are not party people and we usually look for quiet destinations. This hotel has been rated 3 years in a row as a top relaxation destination in Jamaica, so it fitted us very well!!

Ride from the airport:
Sandals makes you feel special from the moment you arrive to the airport. There is a Sandals lounge with complementary coffee and snacks where you can wait for your ride to the hotel.
Many reviews complain about the ride from the airport to the hotel. Yes, it is 1.5 hrs trip through a wavy and narrow road, but keep in mind there is nothing Sandals can do about it...so just be prepared.

Check in:
Extremely easy and fast, specially when you have a welcoming drink in your hand.

Facilities:
Every single place in the hotel is amazing. Facilities are well kept and they pay a lot of attention to detail. Every area in the hotel has a unique feel to it, no matter what you like, you will find something to do and somewhere to be. The beach is very very private, with no other hotels around. Therefore, there was nobody at the beach trying to sell you stuff, unlike the Sandals Negril.

Dutch Village:
Many reviews recommended to stay in this village, so we followed their advice and we were not disappointed. It is really quiet, has a medium size pool with a jacuzzi facing the ocean, and it was the main spot to see the sunset.

Spa:
It was very exclusive, with beautiful gardens. The sauna, steam room and jacuzzi are included, they can be used by anybody, even if you are not getting a massage...many people do not know this, so it was always empty.

Food and drinks:
They do not cheap out on alcohol or food. They had topnotch alcohol and the cocktails were very good. We tried all the restaurants and they were all amazing...remember it is an all inclusive, if you think the portions are small, get another one...you could find freshly squeeze juice for breakfast and decent wine for dinner. My girlfriend is vegetarian, even though there were not many vegetarian options in the menu, the chefs were amazing, they would come to talk to her and make her a delicious custom made meals (special thanks go to Tamara at the breakfast buffet).

Service:
It was good; however, the waitress forgot our orders in three different occasions. The worse was one lunch at Guiseppe`s, were they forgot our food for over an hour, meanwhile every person that came after us ate and left...the rest of the staff was really nice and accommodating, we even received a treat for our anniversary. The water sports guys were fantastic, they would teach you how to do the different sports and the diving crew was great!!

Overall, the hotel and the experience was amazing. This hotel in particular succeeds in making every single guest feel special! If you are thinking in a romantic and relaxing get away, do not hesitate in choosing this hotel.

So nice and peaceful, relaxing and engaging at the same time. To give some perspective, we have traveled in the Riv. Maya region to several 5 star, adult, all incl resorts. We wanted to try something different and venture to Jamaica.
The grounds are beautifully landscaped with tropical flowerbeds and towering palms while maintaining an open, airy feel. Resident peacocks roam freely adding to the regal atmosphere.
The lobby and buildings in general feel rich and well appointed yet have a quaint warmth about them. Fountains and marble statues abound and the abundant piazza is entirely ceramic tiled.
This is the hub of the activities on the resort for the most part. As you can see on the resort map, the bulk of the restaurants, the lobby, the business/banquet center, the theater, the excursion desk, evening outdoor activities, shopping opportunities and late night bars are all within a leisurely stroll of each other. As a matter of fact, the whole resort, while spacious is arranged conveniently and walking from Bluefields to Bayside while sipping your favorite drink and gazing at the moon dappled water will only take 10 to 15 minutes depending on how many times you have to stop and listen to the lapping waves.
The culinary adventure was as exciting and rewarding as the trip itself. It would be unfair to pick a favorite restaurant because each had its individual charm and merits. The quality of the meal was equalled by the elegance of the service. Cloth linens from breakfast to midnight snack, black-tie treatment with a warm, genuine smile. I must mention Eleanor's as a wonderful, romantic experience. We were able to hear the sax player and still talk over the candlelight in a sidewalk cafe setting. I can't help but mention one of the gems of Whitehouse, Cafe de Paris. Local grown and roasted Blue Mountain coffee blended any way you like it and a myriad of decadent handmade pasteries and desserts from 5 a.m. till late at night. Sheree has an expert touch on the cappuccino machine.
While we thoroughly enjoyed a glass of wine while curled up on cushioned chairs by the gas fire pits as a quite end to carefree days, a couple nights ran late and wild at Casablanca singing, dancing and partying with Keon and Fletcher. Those two know how to bring out the fun!!
To hit on a few more highlights we enjoyed the outdoor pool tables, the movie on the beach, the Caribbean Fiesta, Silver Bird Steel Band (very impressive), the Cohiba cigars from the gift shop (a little pricey, but sooo good), sunrise on the pier, beach vollyball with Waylon "Whale", all the magical libation served with so much personality and flare by Dominic, Romeo and the Tom Cruise understudy from "Cocktail", my man, Avril ! I must also mention Esroy. Esroy is one of the nicest people we met at Whitehouse. He is the watersports coordinator and one of the lifegaurds. He will gladly tell you about everything at your disposal on the beach and instruct you on anything you may need help with. He is also a man of refreshing candor. We spoke with Esroy several times and learned a little about Jamaica, the local people, the resort industry and the ocean. I wish I had asked him about the grape-like fruit that grew on the trees throughout the grounds. We saw people eating them but never got hungry enough to try them ourselves!
Very quickly, the rooms were quite nice. Marble floors, comfortable bed and pillows, good pressure in the shower and plenty of hot water. There is a nice TV but we barely had it on. We were in the French Village, ground floor in the first building past the Dutch. The ocean was literally 30 yards from our back door. This end of the resort has the best vantage point for the spectacular sunsets. While the beach is kind of narrow at this end, it was never crowded. There are plenty of chairs and palapas. The swimming pool and swimup bar are within easy reach as well as Bluefields, the only restaurant remote to the piazza. They have a walk up counter for snacking on the beach or by the pool featuring an item called a chicken or beef patty that is immensely more appetizing than it sounds.
I cannot say enough about the staff at every level. From the lobby to gardeners and maintenance workers, everybody has a genuine easy spirit and a warm, friendly disposition. The waiters, waitresses, chefs and busboys could easily be at home at any upscale theater district restaurant.
I sincerely believe they are all inspired by the glowing example set by their leader, Resort Manager, Mr. G. What a WONDERFUL man. The consummate professional host, omni-present coodinator of activities and friend to all who meet him. Mr. G is a man with a kind and cordial soul. With the demands of the daily operations of this bustling resort, he never misses an opportunity to stop and speak with his guest. He has an infectious smile and a quick step from morning to night. One of the most impressive sites I witnessed was Mr. G on the beach, collecting dishes and discarded cups and chatting with guests all while dressed to the nines and without breaking a sweat.
We would like to thank every single member of the Whitehouse staff, the Sandals organization, and our travel agent, Robin Stamer with the Travel Gals for making this the relaxing, carefree and romantic escape from reality that we really needed.
One last thing, we booked Club Mobay at the airport and loved it! Great value for money, especially on your out-bound side. Very nice, good food, full bar, spacious and family room seperate from the main area. The best way to spend your wait time prior to departure.

Room Tip: The French Village, while furthest from most of the attractions, offers the best views of the sunset...

This is a beautiful resort! The gardens, pool areas and beaches are fabulous! We were in a concierge room which was spacious and comfortable but it was just little nightly things which could have been better. We had to repeatedly ask for supplies to the room which after a while became tiresome. The majority of the restaurants were excellent but we had issues with service at times. This, however, was addressed after a word with a manager. This is a 5 star resort. It not to be compared with true 5 star hotels around the world.
The best thing about this resort were the staff. On the whole they were very friendly and helpful. There were some female members of staff in the Bayside Restaurant who looked permanently miserable and for that reason this was our least favourite restaurant. The best for us was Eleanor's followed by Bluefields. The Cafe de Paris was fabulous for speciality coffee, scrumptious cakes and cookies not to mention ice cream! One of the highlights of our stay was the White Night when everyone's dresses in white, there is a chocolate fountain, trays of every imaginable chocolate accompanied by a band and dancing by the main pool.
Having been to other sandals resorts since 1995 we felt that this property was the best but Sandals doesn't have the value it once had and other rival companies are doing it better for cheaper.
We decided though that this would be our last Sandals holiday but despite our decision we had a nice time.

Awesome vacation! Sandals Whitehouse in Jamaica is a great place to relax and enjoy. The resort is huge and there is so much to do. I highly recommend my travel agent named Nancy Finn with Island Getaways. She was fantastic to work with. She was always just a email or phone call away for anything. And she even got us a room upgrade that we didn't even expect. Thanks so much Nancy Finn.
The room was great. We had the honeymoon suite which has 2 separate rooms, one for the living room and the other for the bedroom and bathroom. Wow. The views were amazing off the balcony. We stayed in the Dutch village and it was perfect. The pools were huge and lots of them. The hot tubs were nice as well, but didn't really get to use them much.
The food was great. Many options. Our favorite was Bluefields. Big shout out to Kenrick and the staff at Bluefields. They knew us by name and treated us like they had known us forever. The lobster and shrimp was fantastic. We also really enjoyed the martini bar. The bartenders were friendly and very entertaining each night.
We chose to go on 1 excursion which was the Island Routes Pelican Bar Catamaran tour. Highly recommend it.
The weather was perfect, but it did rain each day from 3pm to 6pm, but after that it was cooler and nice out again.
Again, big thanks to Nancy Finn for making this vacation/anniversary a wonderful time. I would so stay here again.

Room Tip: Loved the Dutch village because its in the middle of the resort options

I have traveled to all kinds of all inclusive properties around the world. I have also stayed at all kinds in Jamaica through out my travels from one end of the Island to Negril. We have also been to all the Sandals on the Island of JA BUT!!! when you arrive at he front doors of the Whitehouse you know you are in for a special treat....This is one of the prettiest properties we have been to the lush gardens and beautiful property lay out is just perfect. If you real have a problem at this property you should just stay home because you are wacked or fed from a silver spoon to long. The pools are huge and clean the rooms are so nice and clean every room has a view to die for especially if you can get on the top floors. Now the food is out of this world so many restaurant's to choose from it would make your head spin. Be sure to get in line at lunch and have some jerk chicken or beef on the beach it is the best..The coffee shop will make you happy and fat.. The staff what can I say the manager at this hotel Mr. G is one of the kindest most professional gentlemen you could ever meet on your travels. I watch this man work and bend over backwards for people and throw out the red carpet. I must mention Angela on the front reception area what an angle to deal with. NOW!! the bartenders if you are lucky enough to meet Keon and Fletcher in the Martini lounge they will do you right great guys what a show. If you are a diver String-bean is the man on the dive boat what an experienced and professional diver we saw tons of great fish and things under the sea.The beach is so powder white and soft you can walk for miles with out anyone to bother you. Please make a point of visiting the fisher men at the end of the beach and yes it is safe to go and talk with them learn about Jamaica from them they might not have much as far as wealth and material things but what they do have is passion for life and how to be free of all the crap we put up with in our day to day jobs. Take an extra cold drink down to them and if you want you can buy a sea shell or something to help them out. Jamaica is a very special place if you just treat the locals the way you want to be treated you will never have a problem..No Problem mon!!! I am so tired of hearing people say it is not safe they will get robed that is bunch of crap travel the Island explore the place there is so much to do and see. Just remember when in Jamaica be Jamaican and everything will be crisp..for you. Enjoy your travels be kind to others. Andyman

Room Tip: We were very lucky to be in the French building corner upper room the best views of the sea and beac...
