“Awesome!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

My husband and I just returned from Sandals Whitehouse and can't stop talking about it. Yes, there's a 90 minute bumpy ride from the airport but you can't let it stop you from visiting. The drivers know what they're doing so just relax and take in scenery and culture. Upon discussing the resort with various guests, everyone complained about the ride... don't let it ruin your trip, it's Jamaica!

Everything was perfect at this resort...from the friendly staff to the beautiful room. All rooms are beachfront here. We had the most difficult time choosing a room and ended up in the Honeymoon Beachfront Penthouse (Club Level). LOVED this room. 4th floor of the Dutch Village worked out perfectly for us. We enjoyed being high up, as it did rain a bit each day and we were able to sit on our patio without getting soaked. The room included a couch, chair, desk, comfy bed with a flat screen tv. The bathroom was a bit different than expected- 2 sinks with a large whirlpool tub and then through a set of doors you find a walk-in shower and toilet. Small but fine. Our minibar and liquor was refilled daily; we were even able to ask for extra of certain beverages and less of others. Everytime we left the room, we'd return to find a freshly made bed and fresh, clean towels.

We loved being in the Dutch Village as it was in the center of the property. To the right we had the French Pool which had music, a swim up bar and pool volleyball (LOTS of fun). Poolside bed-type lounges were always occupied. Bluefield's Restaurant is located here- the only restaurant on this side. The lobster & mashed potatoes were amazing and the sound of crashing waves was awesome during dinner.

Our Dutch pool was calm, relaxing and our favorite. Although there was no swim-up bar or music, the sound of the ocean was perfect. The bar is a few steps away from the pool which is no big deal at all. Toward our left was the Italian Village. There's a large hot tub facing the beach as well as beachfront full of water activities. Kayaking, Paddle Boarding and much more! No reservations needed, we were always able to do anything whenever we wanted. The Italian pool was large with a great swim up bar, music, entertainment and beach views. The hot tub faces the entire pool and beach. ** This resort is all about the pools. Although the beach offers an extraordinary view, it's terrible for swimming. Rocky and full of foliage, shallow, cloudy and no waves. **

This resort serves all top-shelf liquor. The food is pretty good and you can order anything you'd like. We ended up ordering room service for breakfast every morning, as it was included with our room. For lunch, we ended up at Guiseppe's for pizza due to timing, but we really didn't like it that much. Pizza only for lunch (ignore the dinner menu) and it's nothing great. Along the beach you'll find the Jerk Pit which we really loved. We heard the pork was great but only tried the chicken - phenomenal! Eleanor's was our favorite. The food was superb and they brought us different rum shots and little teasers to taste. Neptunes was beachside, good seafood/chicken. Cafe de Paris was a wonderful stop for treats, coffee, etc. Overall, we were really impressed with the dining options and didn't even have a chance to try everything! No reservations needed so you can even hop around and try apps at one place and entrees at another.

There's tons of entertainment here. We went to the theatre every night and got to see some amazing shows. Our favorite was the Silver Bird Steel Pan Drums- exquisite. After the shows, don't miss out on the Casablanca Martini Bar. Phenomenal drinks and entertainment. There was a live jazz band, karaoke and an after party with a DJ and great dancing. There was a beach party one night with creative entertainment... we really had so much fun!

We enjoyed a massage/facial at the Red Lane Spa. We didn't plan on taking advantage of the spa but were super glad we did. It was a lovely way to spend some time together.

Overall, we loved this trip. We chose not to leave the resort but if you plan on doing any excursions, keep in mind that many of them are hours away. We've already been looking into booking our next Sandals vacation but we're having trouble choosing as Whitehouse was such a blast. Special thanks to Kenoi who greeted us with cold towels and lead us to the club for check in. Everytime we ran into him on the grounds, he was all smiles and happy to answer any of our questions. Clive introduced us to our room and was so kind and informative whenever we needed anything. We met our concierge, Allen on the last night of our stay. He knocked on our door and surprised us with a belated anniversary cake which was incredibly thoughtful. Geraldine really made pool volleyball a blast and was part of the amazing entertainment committee that threw the beach party.

Although we'd like to check out other Sandals vacations, we'll most definitely be back to Whitehouse. <3 Thanks to everyone there for making it such a special anniversary for us!

Room Tip: Italian Village is close to most restaurants and the main pool. Dutch village is quiet, calm and pea...

My husband and I as well as 2 other couples just returned from our wonderful stay at Sandals Whitehouse (the 4th time). In my opinion it is the excellent staff that make this resort so incredible, and I have to especially thank Mr G and Kwamei (forgive me if misspelled), for the nice upgrade they gave us. We would also like to thank Our butler Omarr as he made our stay very special he is very attentive and made us feel really special. Omarr took the time a few evenings to decorate our bed with flowers and towel art. We even came back one evening to a romantic candlelit, chilled champagne bubble bath with chocolate , flowers, soft music, the works. These gentlemen made our vacation even more enjoyable and made us feel as though we were " at home" The only thing that we found even the slightest bit disappointing was the food. It was good, but not fantastic. Despite this it is an amazing resort with fantastic employes and a gorgeous beach.

We have been to all the Sandals properties except for the newest one in Exuma but this one still seems to be one of our top 4 favorites. Just be prepared for the hour and half ride to and from the airport it's the worst part of the trip.

Room Tip: try to avoid the french village it's so far from every thing

stayed February sorry so late to review . Upon arriving treated like a royal champagnewas served to us while waitig to be taken to our room along with a warm cloth to wipe the road dust off the bus trip from the airport. Room was great king bed very clean room with lots of room. From the food to the bakery to the service along with every thing you can think of from water sports along with scuba diving all included with the package no need to keep going into your wallet to paid for anything because all included in the price. Every place we ate at the food was beyond great. I would return here in a heart beat, the place is adults only sorry no kids but what a place, still thinking about when I will return

Room Tip: any place here is just as good as the other

My wife and I had a heavenly experience at Sandals Whitehouse for our 5th Anniversary. The resort is so pristine and well manicured. The beach was one of the nicest I have been to. Plenty of chairs and huts, never had a problem getting one. Stayed in the Dutch Village and liked that it was in the middle of the resort, so it was not too far from main area. People have complained of the walk, but it is not that far and rather enjoyable. Had room on fourth floor and really enjoyed the view. The room was nice, but not as nice as some of the other Sandals I have stayed at. I see no need to upgrade room, we were never in ours except to sleep. The service and friendliness of staff was top notch. Everyone was so willing to please and always had a smile on their faces. You can tell they love their jobs. Food was very good. Really enjoyed Giuseppe's and Eleanor's for dinner. Bayside's breakfast buffet is the way to go, quick and great selection. No reservations are needed at any restaurants. Only complaint in regard to the food is the fact that all meals seem to take forever to arrive. Also not very impressed with the desserts I tried. Keon was our favorite bartender on the resort, make sure you see him. Drinks are very good and selection top notch. Our favorite drinks included; Jamaican Smile, Miami Vice, and Cranberry Mojito. My wife and I splurged and got a couples massage at the Red Lane spa. We chose the Champange massage which was hour long massage, body scrub, and 20 min hot tub soaking with champagne. It was well worth the money and by far is the best massage my wife and I have received. Thanks Sandals for an amazing experience.

Room Tip: Get a room on the top (fourth floor) of any building for the best views of ocean and surrounding are...

Our main concern about visiting an all inclusive resort was that it may be too confined and that we might not be able to find quiet areas and peace. That's why we picked Whitehouse since many of the reviews we read talked about stated that this was one of the more secluded Sandals on Jamaica. Well, they were right. Here are some tips:

If you like snorkeling or fishing, bring your own snorkel gear and if you have a rod that can break down or telescope rod, bring it and some tackle....I was wishing I had it the whole time... There is a two mile beach area that had tarpons and I think possibly some permit corralling baits.. The bus ride there and back is long and bumpy but we didnt mind it but everyone else was complaining... we were wishing we had bought a 6 pack at the airport for the ride to sandals.. then when we left we went into the gift shop and bought 6 miller lite cans (we were over red stripe at that point) and brought them with us on the ride back to the airport... The French quarters was the quietest even though its the farthest walk to the main section that has most of the restaurants, etc. The swim up bar in the French area has the least people at it and the least amount of activities (i.e. pool volleyball, games, etc) Each morning we woke up, went down to the beach, put a sling bag and our towels on the individual thatch huts with two beach chairs and then went to breakfast... we liked the buffet breakfast at Bayside.... lots to choose from, the other breakfast we didnt even go to..... it was regular breakfast from a menu of about 6 items or so...Make sure you order an appetizer with each lunch and dinner cause the portions are on the small side and it doesnt cost anymore to do so anyway.. i saw guys ordering two lunches or two dinners at the same time.

Overall the placing was stunning, quiet and the entire staff was incredibly friendly.

Room Tip: French quarters are quietest but furthest walk to main dining and activities center

I have stayed at and visited a total 7 Sandals and 1 Beaches resorts in Jamaica and St. Lucia. My husband and I agree that Sandals Whitehouse has by far exceeded quality and service of them all. EVERY room is beachfront. Some views better than others, but all are worth it.

From the Playmakers, to the bartenders, to the wait staff, to the chefs....EVERYONE is committed to your vacation enjoyment.

I am looking forward to going back in February 2014 for my second stay. The husband said it was a must!

Room Tip: There isn't a bad view on the entire resort. The higher floor, the better you can see the sea.

My husband and I recently spent 10 nights at this resort in Jamaica, and we loved EVERY minute of this vacation. The beach was beautiful--it is "groomed" every morning to look pristine. The water was the most clear, aquamarine blue-green I've ever seen. There are not a lot of waves, and the temperature is just right.

The activities are great! From kayaking, paddle boarding, and sailing, to just laying on the beach. We went on the snorkeling trip, and that may be my only critique about the whole trip. The reef is pretty, but there just aren't a whole lot of pretty fish to see. I would say that the snorkeling was just okay.

The restaurants are all fabulous, and the service is great. The bartenders really try to remember your names as well. We had some great meals.

We did take a tour with Island Routes on one of the days we were there. Highly recommended! We went on the Black River Safari/YS Falls trip. It was a lot of fun. Our guide on the river really knew his stuff! He actually got some crocodiles to come up to our boat, and we learned a lot. YS Falls is gorgeous, and you can actually rope swing down into the highest pool. That was a lot of fun.

We didn't bring quite enough sunscreen with us, and had to buy more at the gift shop. Very expensive!! So make sure you bring enough sunscreen!

Overall, a great experience! The resprt is gorgeous, and the staff are all very accomodating. It seemed like everyone really, genuinely loves their job (with 20% unemployment in Jamaica, they probably do!)! We would go back in a heartbeat. Totally worth the money.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good! The all face the beach, so it really just depends on what kind of service y...
