We drove up from Rome to the locanda and spent two nights there -- it's a great stepping stone towards northern Italy. We visited Siena and wished we'd had the time to go to Montepulciano, which is quite nearby. The hotel is charming, comfortable and has great common areas. The staff is very nice. The restaurant is also quite extraordinary. It was one of the best meals we had in our time in Italy.
