“Good breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012 via mobile

We are staying at the St Regis and the only place to get breakfast is Fern. The service is incredible. Waiters are super friendly and always on point. It's good hotel breakfast food. With typical options of eggs, continental breakfast buffet, yogurt etc. It is pricey but if you are from NY the prices should not be a shock to your wallet.

“Pleasant restaurant with underwhelming service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012 via mobile

Ate here five times over a week (Breakfast 3 times/Dinner twice). Can't say I loved it. Breakfast's service was consistently weak. 10 minutes to be seated, drinks forgotten, food was average. Dinner was better; but never more than good. There is definitely room for improvement.
Atmosphere is very nice.

“Good food, below par service...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2012 via mobile

Its a shame to have nice, friendly staff that simply has not been properly trained or supervised in what is sold as a "Jean George's" joint. The service was painfully slow for dinner and breakfast. The glass of wine for my salmon dish (one of the best salmon I've had in my life) came with the last bite: tragic. We had to wait ten minutes to be seated for breakfast (the place was nearly empty). Halfway through our wait we found out we were being seated in the terrace without being asked. We ordered bloodymarys as soon as we sat down, had to wait at least 15 minutes and ask several times. The food was very good: the salmon and the beef tenderloin were outstanding; so were the French toast, ham chese and egg mayorca and the crispy potatoes. We paid $120 per person for dinner with a good portion going to drinks which I did not find high for a high end hotel restaurant. I would give it another chance.

“Tasty and delicious!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2012

On our recent stay at the hotel, we had dinner at Fern and were very happy with the dinning experience. I agree with other reviews that the octopus appetizer is a MUST: very original preparation and delicious flavor and texture! The cod fish with the lemon crust was seasoned and cooked to perfection and the apple crumble for dessert was so tempting we ended up with an empty plate! My husband ordered the lobster and asked that it be served out of the shell. I thought they could have done better with the plating, instead of putting all the meat inside a bowl .We all know presentation is part of the appeal. The lobster was run of the mill: nothing special.
The ambiance and service was excellent with a very friendly and attentive staff. The chef came to the table to greet us which I always find to be a nice, personal touch.
Breakfast was good but nothing special although I have to admit that, once again, the staff went out of their way to please me , this time with a strong cup of coffe that was GREAT! The staff throughout all the hotel is a winning staff!

“Food excellent; service slow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2012

We ate at Fern for one dinner and one breakfast. The dinner was as good as any high end upscale NY restaurant (and we have eaten at many). Excellent food. The service was very slow, a bit lacking. But then again, where are we going anyway, since we were staying at the resort? The breakfast is a real treat but again, the service was quite slow.
