When we reserved the hotel we only booked 3 nights as some of the reviews were not great. However, upon arriving and seeing the property, our room and the being greeted by the staff we immediately booked additional nights at the hotel. The property is magnificent. If you enjoy the beach, golf, family getaways, pools, tennis, spas, weight rooms, biking, running, etc. this place is for you. Upon returning from the hotel I mentioned to a friend that it was better than many four season resorts. This is my new favorite place in the Caribbean.

The hotel is only 30 minutes south from the airport. We rented a car but will take a cab next time as we did not want to leave the property except for one afternoon in old san juan.

All of the staff we fantastic. We enjoyed messages, we enjoyed tennis, we enjoyed paddle boarding, we enjoyed the walks on the beach, we loved the food at all of the restaurants, and we just enjoyed being on the property.

Room Tip: Pay for the upgraded room - it is worth it.

We were looking for a dreamlike place for our honeymoon, and St Regis Bahia Beach managed to surprise us : it was even better than everything we imagined !

Our room was really spacious and well decorated. There was a a bottle of red wine waiting for us as we arrived and a nice welcome letter as well. Room cleaned everyday, and sometimes twice a day. We visited 3 out of 4 restaurants there, all of them with high quality food and a good variety of choices. The prices were high but affordable (and worth)

The resort have lots of good things to do (beach, swimming pool, spa, mountaing bike, kayak, etc) but what makes everything work perfectly is the dedicated service from all employees we had the privilege of knowing there. Everyone there made all possible (sometimes nearly the impossible) to make us confortable and let us have the best experience.

My thanks to all the staff in St Regis Bahia Beach (Freddy, Stephanie, Edwin, Naomi, Miguel, Krystie, Lisa, ... unfortunately I won't remember all names) and a special thanks to Mr. Jossell, who helped us A LOT when we tried to rent a car and the person from Enterprise International was unreachable.

Ps: the background music throughout the resort was always nice, and it's not because it played a lot of good brazilian music, I swear :D

Room Tip: People usually look for ocean view in resorts, but there I think I prefer the ones with the forest v...

We just returned from a 10 day family vacation at the St. Regis Bahia Beach. While there is much that I can say about the resort itself, ranging from the acres of lush natural foliage to the beautiful sun-drenched beach, it was the service that truly set this resort apart. From prior to our arrival to our departure our trip was characterized by exceptional service. The attention to detail was evident in every interaction, from a welcome note with wine & fruit to a birthday cake in our room to mark the occasion. It is often the little things that ultimately make a difference and I'm pleased to say that the employees at this resort went out of their way to make our stay a pleasant one. Here are just a few examples of the service highlights from our stay:

- Gabriele/Lydia @ Fern (breakfast): Always greeted us each morning with a smile and catered to our young children's breakfast requests. William (manager) made it a point to have chocolate muffins made for our son upon learning they were his favorite on the menu.
- Joel @ Fern (dinner): A true professional. He took the time to connect with our family over dinner, making our daughter's birthday celebration his personal mission and truly special.
- Ian Carlos (valet): A pleasant young man with an infectious smile. Even when faced with our golf cart running out of battery on the way to dinner, he smiled and turned it into an adventure for the kids. He got us there and created a family memory.
- Juan/Carlos (butlers): Always there, always attentive, always ready to help. Another example of the "little things" - upon seeing we had young children they proactively brought a fridge & microwave to the suite.
- Jossell (head concierge): By far one of the most personable and service oriented individuals I have met in my years of travel. He not only arranged a wonderful excursion to nearby Vieques, he went out of his way to help us bring a little taste of PR back home. Rather than sending us to a local market (on our last day) he took it upon himself to find local fruits so we could maximize our remaining time on the island. To top it all off he even shared his raspberry vinaigrette recipe with us. Great example of a concierge delivering on the role with style and grace. We were truly appreciative of his assistance.

There were numerous other employees who made our vacation truly a vacation. Summarizing our experience in the words of our 12-year old son, "everyone here is always smiling, it makes me want to smile!"

A special thanks to GM Terry Bechtold and his guest relations team (led by Frances Otano) for creating service-driven culture and making our stay truly memorable!

Room Tip: Their suites are fantastic with ample room for a family.

Where to begin on how many people made this trip so special!

This property is beyond beautiful and the grounds crew do an excellent job keeping it so perfect. The welcome gate made the property feel safe and secure.

Lisa at check in was quick, helpful and very professional. Thank you to Lisa and Paulina for being outstanding at your job.

Our butlers made this trip soooo special and we can't wait to return here. Ricardo, Jose & Jose Lopez made each night romantic and an experience we will never forget!! Hats off to them for the great service, they are the best of the best!

Dinning-- Molasses and Fern are must go to restaurants for excellent food. Orlando and Jose (manager) at Molasses made our experience perfect the first time that we wanted to return a second time for Orlando's fist class service. He was so detailed and even remembered our favorite drinks from the night before.

Please pass along to Terry Bechtold that he has the best staff and great service. Special thank you again to Liza & Paulina front office, Ricardo, Jose and Jose Lopez from Butler service and house keeping and Molasses's Orlando and Jose

We can't wait to return to this magical resort!

We only stayed one night and it was fantastic. Yes, all the drinks and food are expensive there, but you're paying hundreds of dollars to sleep at night, so I'm not sure why other reviewers find this unusual. Perhaps stop by a liquor store on the way and pick up a few bottles. The room was comfortable (we should have turned the AC lower because it seemed to get warm at night) and the staff was great. Thanks to the concierge who took care of our fantastic Enchanted tour of the bio bay. Fun water activities (kayak, stand up paddle board, fishing). And yes, you're in the middle of no where, so unless you have a car, it's hard to go somewhere. The pool closed at 6, the sun set by 7, so there wasn't much to do other than eat. We were looking to relax so we were happy. We came in August so it wasn't crowded, we could easily sit by the pool+beach + use facilities.

Room Tip: A regular room is already very spacious. We were upgraded to a suite (thanks!!) and really didn'...

Just returned from 5-fabulous nights at the St. Regis Bahia Beach in Puerto Rico. The property and rooms alone are great but the staff truly made the difference throughout our stay. Easily the best service I have received in the Caribbean and also of other St. Regis properties I have stayed. For reference, these include the St. Regis in Beijing, Princeville/Kauai, San Francisco, Monarch Beach and Rome.

Service is casual, not forced or over the top while extremely pleasant and effective. Entire team did a great job at anticipating needs and going out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. This included the pool waitress (Clarissa) escorting my wife back to the room with an umbrella when it started to rain and another staff member running to fetch an umbrella for me and our son taking cover under a tree during passing showers near the lobby. Even on the couple of occasions that something was off, the alert staff was proactive to take action and do the right thing. As an example, our last breakfast was taking longer than usual that could have ended with us leaving on a bad note. But before we mentioned anything to the waiter, the manager came over to apologize for the delay and advise us that there was an issue with the waffle iron. When the problem persisted, he suggested other items and to our delight comped our entire breakfast. Thanks again, William. Despite the service in generally being great, the pool & beach waiter service seemed a little under staffed or visits not frequent enough.

As a SPG lifetime gold elite, no upgrade available at check-in but was advised one would open up on Sunday. No need however as the room was plenty big and we didn't want the hassle of moving rooms. Standard room is luxurious with an over sized bathroom, tub and double sinks. Room includes a wet bar and a very comfortable bed. Maid service and turn down service where great everyday, even folding our son's blanket from home in the crib and his many clothing items everyday. Two comments about the room - flat screen seems a little undersized for the space and there was not an internet connection to the Samsung blueray player/soundbar for the built-in Netflix/Pandora/etc streaming apps.

The property was near capacity but never felt crowded at anytime. The property is very large at over 400+ acres but the hotel shuttles you around in golf carts if the walk is too far. Grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Hotel buildings are small surrounded by the natural vegetation / forest.

Didn't golf at all but did take out a kayak from the boathouse which is included in the resort fee. They also provide complimentary bicycles, sailboats and paddle boards at the boat house.

For beach lovers, it is a little disappointing. The sand is dark and not fine. Rough surf flags out the entire time but I felt very comfortable in the water even with our 23-month old son.

We spent most of our time at the pools which are great. Three pools that cascade into each other with one considered a walk-in pool (gentle ramp) with no steps which was great for our son - hotel in general was very kid friendly. Biggest complaint throughout our entire stay was the condition of the pool cushions. Many are torn at the seems, apparently a result of the pool manager having the staff use bleach to clean them which seems to destroy the stitching (and also my wife's dress for that matter - the hotel offered to reimburse us for the cost of the dress). Not a big deal as the have chair towels to go over them but you would never see torn cushions at a Four Seasons or Ritz.

SPG members with kids can purchase meal plan for $25/day for each child. Works out to be a savings if eating at least a break even if eating 2-meals a day at resort.

We ate breakfast everyday at Fern, a Jean Georges restaurant. Fairly standard a la carte menu plus an optional buffet (weekend days?). Average breakfast was about $50 for 2 adults. No real standouts (except for the bacon) but nice start to the morning. Dinner menu is more of the Jean Georges signature items but didn't experience it. Some dishes from dinner menu available downstairs in lobby bar which we did one night to keep it more casual with our son. Free coffee available in the mornings also at the lobby bar.

Had several meals at the other restaurants, Sea Grapes (pool) and Molassas (golf house). Food in general was good, above average compared to other resorts in the Caribbean. Chicken Quesadillas, Mahi-Mahi Tacos and Watercress Salad seem to be the way to go at Sea Grapes. Ropa Vieja Mofongo, Prawns or Churasco at Molassas. Average dinner at Molassas is about $120/couple with a drink each.

The closest eats we found outside the hotel is a 15-min drive to kiosks (a strip mall restaurant row of sorts) east of the hotel in Loquillo on Highway 3. Otherwise your other option seems like driving to San Juan. In Loquillo we at La Parrilla (local food) and El Jefe Burger Shack. Both are good and considerably less expensive than the hotel food if you have a car. There is also an Amigo supermarket and several fast food chains on the way to Loquillo if you want to pick anything up.
