“Comfortable Stay During The Festive Season”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

I have stayed at this hotel several times before but this was my most enjoyable visit, The staff made us very welcome and attended to all our needs. The refurbished bedroom was very nice and the bathroom clean and bright. Perhaps room could be found for a shelf to place toiletries on?
The restaurant was also very impressive and food was excellent. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Food was freshly cooked to order and of very high quality.
I look forward to returning to the Warkworth House Hotel in the not too distant future. Warkworth is a quaint town with a magnificent castle and riverside walks.

Room Tip: If climbing stairs is an issue, do ask for a ground floor room.

Lovely hotel. Great setting. Food ok. Our dog was made very welcome, as were we! Staff very friendly and efficient. An open fire or wood burning stove would have been a wonderful addition as it was bitterly cold whilst we were there. Room temp was perfect though. Lovely room.

Room Tip: Bay room - lovely and spacious but we were woken by bins being emptied at 6am just outside our room.

We decided to stay here based on its excellent reviews and website. Let me say up front that we had a great time, the staff were very welcoming and helpful and we would probably go back - but there were a number of disappointing factors which you should be aware of if you are considering this venue. The hotel advertises that it offers a choice of dinning and menus in its restaurant and bar area - but it doesn't - the actual menu is the same for both and very limited. Nevertheless we ate there and it was good. It also offers Afternoon Tea which on the website looks very impressive and inviting - however the reality is they no longer do it and whilst they offered to make something up it was not ever going to be as good as advertised. Despite having radiators they were either turned down or off - consequently we arrived to a very cold room and did not sit in the public areas for too long before moving on. Finally breakfast finishes at 9 am - not exactly what you want when looking for a relaxing weekend away. All in all an enjoyable experience but it it could and should have been, so much more - if only it was as advertised !!!!

Room Tip: Rooms are quieter at the rear - although the front is not overly noisy. If you are taller than 5...

I am a regular visitor to the area and chose the hotel for a meal on my wife's 60th birthday when I discovered that restaurant meals are also served in the comfortable bar area which is dog- friendly (we had our dog with us on holiday).
The staff were very helpful and friendly, our dog was given treats and the food was fantastic and very good value. Local ales were served in the bar which was also a bonus.
We spoke to a gentleman who was a resident and he was glowing in his praise of the hotel generally including the food.

Room Tip: Went for meal and did not stay overnight.

I stayed at the Warkworth House on Saturday 29th November, with my husband and some friends. The occasion was a birthday celebration.Unfortunately, shortly after our arrival, my husband was taken ill, the severity of which necessitated a 999 call and a trip to hospital. Fortunately all was eventually well.

The hotel staff could not have been kinder or more caring, both to ourselves and our friends - even to the extent of offering to drive them back to Whitley Bay if necessary.

Well done, the Warkworth House. We will certainly return.

We popped into Warkworth House hotel for Sunday lunch, were served immediately with drinks and didn't have wait long for a really delicious Sunday lunch, beautifully presented, followed by a large dish of sticky toffee pudding. We'll be back!

Christmas decoration were up too and the hotel looked so cosy and inviting. Loved the lounge chairs!!

Room Tip: Didn't stay

We have been going to Warkworth House Hotel for many years and always enjoyed our visits. Over the last couple of years a considerable amount of refurbishment has taken place and it must be said that the room we had was very pleasant. We were also delighted to see the reinstatement of the lounge in which to relax. The food was delicious, the service was generally good although it was slow on the Sunday evening meal which was surprising considering how few people were dining at the time. As creatures of habit we visited our favourite haunts: Holy Island, Bamburgh, Craster, Dunstanburgh Castle and Alnwick Gardens. Winter visitors please note that many attractions are now closed until next spring.
