We booked a New Year break at Priory Cottage via Coquest Cottages, from 28 Dec 2011 to 02 Jan 2012. Following numerous exchanges the property owners would only accept a 7 night booking even though we only wanted 5.
Despite this we proceeded with the booking and it was processed in a friendly efficient manner. The website availability chart was updated immediately.
On 5th Dec whilst in the Rothbury area we passed Priory Cottage to take a "sneak preview" and spoke with the owner. Following very friendly exchanges we parted with a "see you on the 28th".
Much to our dismay and disappointment Julie, the owner of Coquet Cottages, rang us on 13 Dec to say our booking needed to be altered as the owner of Priory Cottage had rang to say they had taken an alternative booking & the cottage would only be available to us from the 30 Dec.
Despite pressure from Julie on our behalf the owner would not budge.
Concerned by our disappointment and upset Julie offered us the use of one of their cottages (significantly more expensive than Priory Cottage) so as not to ruin our holiday.
We can not praise Julie and Coquet Cottages enough for the way they resolved a problem not of their making
