“One of our best days in NZ - fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

The day we spent with Jim and Penny on the Pelorus Mail Boat was a fabulous and memorable experience. It was so great to see and learn about such a remote and beautiful part of the world and (however briefly) meet the people who live out in these parts. We will never forget this day - everyone who visits NZ should take this trip - it is interesting and spectacular and quite a privilege. Penny and Jim are wonderful hosts too an interesting people to talk to in their own right. Honestly, if you don't go, you are really missing out.

“Fantastic time on Pelorus mail boat run, thank you Jim and Penny”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

Bit worried at first spending 8 hours on a boat dropping off mail, but what with the scenery, history, experince, wildlife, and the perfect fun loving, friendly and informative hosts the day just flew and it was fantastic. A great informative trip story given by Jim and Penny as we weaved our way from bay to bay, visiting the locals and their four legged friends. Biscuits from Jim ensured the jetties had a full compliment of wagging tails. A great moment when a Hector's dolphin paid a visit. Beautiful scenery all the way and a real interesting discussion on the mussel farming industry given by Jim. Lots to see and talk about, all the visitors seemed really happy to be there and with Penny providing commentary throughout the trip in unison with Jim it felt likeyou were an important part of the family. Thank you Jim and Penny for a fantastic experience. Billy and Carol.

“Awesome trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012 via mobile

! I happen to travel on this boat twice. just got off the boat yesterday, The hector penguin that swam at the bow was definitely the highlight of my day. This is a fantastic one day trip into the sounds, especially when the weather is nice, I was deeply impressed by the beauty of the sounds and bushes that we see along the way, the old houses that we visit and so many marine animals. The crew is very nice and helpful. where you can see penguins, dolphins, birds, seals...and if you are lucky enough an orca!

“A Great Day on the Pelorus Sounds on the Tuesday Mail Run”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

We had a great day, begining with Penny picking us up from our B & B in Picton. She took us through to Havelock via the scenic route, pointing out the different bays and points of interest on the way.
We had a look around the marina at Havelock whilst Jim and Penny were assembling the mail and freight.
The weather was beautiful and the tide was in as we set off out of Havelock. Jim and Penny were great hosts and kept us up todate with local news and points of interest as we travelled down the sounds calling in at the various places with mail and supplies. Jim had the ever ready dog biscuits for his four legged friends at each call. We were lucky enough to have a visit from a Hector dolphin, another friend of Jim and Penny's, and Jim stopped for us to get acquainted with the little fellow. A trip we would recomend to anyone thinking of spending time in the sounds.
