Kenya Safari.... Help!

We are doing our research way in advance.

We are hoping to do a 2 week beach stay at Dianai Beach in August 2015 (honeymoon)

I have many questions so here it goes:

1. Tsavo East and Amboseli safari or Massai Mara? - elephants are a must and then a good variety of wildlife after

2. Do I book a safari in advance or when I get there?

3. any ideas of approx. costs for a 3 night safari to either at this time of year, if booking when out there?

4. As it is for a honeymoon we would like to stay in some of the nicer lodges will this need to be booked in advance rather than on arrival?

5. We are on a budget of around £5000 - as it is too far in advance to look at hotel prices I have looked at costs for August this year which for a 2 week stay in a hotel inc flights is around £2000pp so is £1000 for a safari a reasonable amount to have?

6. Also in addition to our safari we have seen day trip safaris - again any idea on how much these are through the hotel and where these trips are available

Thank you

Hi.

I think its very important to book with a reputable ATOL bonded agent in the UK just so you are assured that your booking is handled well and you are financially secured. I also suggest speaking to a Safari Specialist based in the UK to help in the planning stages. There are some good agents I know of e.g. Trade Wings Travel who specialise in Africa Holidays....they may be contacted on Tel. 02076313373. I had a friend who booked with them recently and had a great time. Their reviews can be viewed from:http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g303978-d482089-r194366708-Sarova_Salt_Lick_Game_Lodge-Tsavo_National_Park_West_Coast_Province.html

Hope all above helps you with your planning. I love Kenya and just want everyone out there to experience the best of Kenya !

hI .

congratualations on your upcoming wedding.

booking hotels and lodges even this early even if they cant book yet Glorious will give you a very good idea of price and also if you know your exact dates you can get your van booked .

rememeber if you book witha kenyan operator then you get the chance to book the land rover or van just for yourselves but if its with a holiday company with brochures as part of the package you often end up sharing with a few others .

amboseli definately for eles and hippos we saw hundreds .

the first time we went we booked 2 weeks on the coast and did the safari in the middle so we got to keep our rooms and didnt have to pack and take everything with us .

have fun planning .(oh and you dont need loads of fancy safari gear )
