Personally to be honest when we have done these trips we find that getting a taxi for the day is the easiest and if you can get two to share then less expensive.
We did this with a couple we met with on safari on our first trip to Kenya and wanted to do all the sights and go further North.
We obviously had not a clue of distances and there was not a trip advisor then therefore for comfort and stopping off at places and knowing the taxi was there for us we would not hesitate to go by taxi again.
There is a snake farm at Diani and very interesting but we visited many years ago and was not aware of the snakes in small enclosures.
These are the snakes that are used at the shows at the hotels on the Diani Coast.
Unfortunately some posters will remember Sir James Bond a large monitor lizard (and I mean large) was put to rest some years ago.
Guests could quite happily have this lizard in their arms but the new one is a cheeky chapppy and you cannot hold.
My friend actually asked her rep and she gave some good pointers for the places to go - we had not a clue if going by bus and it takes a good 1 and a half hour to get to Mombasa by taxi to start with the ferry crossing.
We set off very early in the morning to make a day of it and the traffic was good and ferry not busy.
