SCUBA Diving Websites for Cabo Pulmo

Cabo Pulmo is a small village with a dynamic dive shop situation. There are currently three dive shops with one more under construction. Sharing resources is normal and dive personnel change affiliations from time to time.

Cabo Pulmo National Park is constantly changing too. The dive sites change with specie migrations. The living reefs are growing and dying with time. And, seasonal variations contribute to an ever changing dive experience.

There are several dive shops who make the trek to Cabo Pulmo for Diving. Although we locals desire that you come and spend time in our village, it is not necessary. There are several dive shops outside the area who make day excursions when demand arises.

Here is a listing of available shops and website contacts for Diving in Cabo Pulmo:

Anytime is a good time to snorkel the beaches in Cabo Pulmo. Some times are better than others. If your come during the winter, you should plan to stay a couple of days. El Norte can kick up for a week at a time with 20 knot winds and make your experience rather unpleasant. Dive site map:

The Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park has annual cyclical conditions dependent upon local humidity, wind, air & water temperatures. Although local dive shops operate year round, there are times when wetsuits are necessary and visibility is limited. Local air & water temps:

www.cabosanlucastours.net/Cabo-Weather.htm

Prime diving season is June through November. The water temperatures are 75°F to 85°F peak in September. The seas are calm and visibility is excellent. Summer dive reports:

http://www.caboscuba.com/news.html

December is a transitional diving month where temperatures are decreasing and El Norte (afternoon winds from the north) start to appear. More than you want to know about El Norte:

http://www.iwindsurf.com/travel.iws?genID=1

January through March is winter diving weather. Water temperatures are 70°F, night time air temperatures can get into the 40's, while day time can reach 80+. El Norte churns up the sea better than 50% of the time. So, even on calm days, visibility is limited. What to wear:

El Norte is gone by April and May brings warmer water temperatures. Current conditions:

Update:

http://www.cabopulmowatersports.com/ is now up and running. Our local village jefe Ricardo now employs Lee, Henry & Pilu for diving and snorkeling.

Rick is now over at the Beach Resort. The Beach resort has worked a deal with every hotel concierge to offer the Cabo Pulmo diving experience. The Cabo San Lucas Tours snorkeling trip to Cabo Pulmo is also sponsored by the Beach Resort so you get the whole enchilada for a great price. If you want to save a little, mention Trip Advisor and deal direct. They will arrange the same transportation, the same boat ride out, the same guides, the same lunch, and the same transport back to your hotel.

For you walk in snorkelers, there are two palapas offering service at the main boat launch. Juan is on the left and Saleem direct in front, I think it is Cabo Pulmo Sports Center: kayaks, snorkeling, hiking, hot springs, diving thru cabo Pulmo Divers, and FISHING with several available skippers. I saw two pangas going out at sunrise this AM (Sunrise on the Sea of Cortez is always gorgeous)

Rental cars in the parking lot were Avis, National, Alamo, Dollar, Thrifty, and I can t remember the others. The road is a lot bumpy & washboarded, but in good shape if you take your time.

Oops, forgot to sigh in: bb

Hi Planet Wanderer,

The only company in Cabo Pulmo that has transportation is the Beach Resort, www.cabopulmo.com They have pick ups at all the hotels and room for 10 in each van. If you are on the pacific side, the ride could be close to 2 hours with a couple other hotel stops.

Rick offers several courses, the resort course which allows you to dive with the Beach Resort only. He offers the complete open water course which includes the book instruction, test and 4 dives (3-5 days). Im not sure what the short course covers, you should email him and ask.

Ricardo s shop is new divecabopulmo@yahoo.com But, he doesnt have the network nor transportation of the Beach Resort. You can contact piluyhenri@gmail.com as they are now working with Ricardo. Henry and Pilu (from Pillar, Spain) have been diving Cabo Pulmo for several years.

Or, you can try Grant http://www.godeepdive.com/ He is currently getting his moto repaired in Todos Santos. But, he has a place on the beach now in Cabo Pulmo.

Caveat, I have no affiliation with any website I post except Trip Advisor. I live in Cabo Pulmo and hope you will visit.
