Which of the two resorts would you recommend? El Rio Y Mar or Majika's Island Resort?
Both are good places but belong to different 'level', and depend to much on your taste and tolerance. Tell us your expectations.
What are the main differences between the two places?
I can't even seem to find rates for Majika's Island Resort.
There are differences such as Majika is non-airconditioned, family run while Rio - you can check their website.
Rio is located in the north side of Busuanga, Majika is south. Most of the 'things to see' are located south, such as Culion Island, the town, the lake, the hot spring.
Bottom line, in my view, Rio is affluence, Majika is basic.
I'd say that Majika is more suitable for me. I really want to experience the water related activities in Coron.
What are the rates for Majika? I see that Rio is approximately $200/night.
el rio y mar is more on the posh side.. they also pay more importance on rest and relaxation by the sea motiff and all that, they do have ocean tours and stuff but are really basic and quite expensive as compared to how they cost on more humble accomodations
majika island resort is more on the adventure side, their accomodations are very basic but clean and spacious.. for about 400 pounds you can have an all inclusive adventure pack for 2 people for 6 days.. this includes loads of sea adventures in the wrecks, the coral gardens and lagoons and stuff and other stuff that normal hotels wouldnt offer... like in general its an all out ocean adventure.. but as i say, you have bring your own towels, snacks, flashlight and loads of mosquito repellant... its basically like camping but more comfortable cause you stay in a clean room with a bathroom rather than a tent beside a bush..
yup thats one of their websites.. they also have a multiply account.. all the details you need are in the websites, just email all your queries and they will email you a quote based on your situation,
they pick you up at the airport and you can ask if you can stop at a shop or something, they have a shop where they sell food and stuff but being in a quite isolated place 30 minutes or more away from civilisation you might need to stock up, once you get your price quote they'll send you an itinerary anyway and stuff you need to bring.. ;)
Will I be able to get full meals anywhere during my stay at Majika's or will I only have what I bring with me to eat?
oh sorry.. forgot to say, all your meals are included in whatever quote they give you... when youre in contact withthem just email what sort of food you like in addition to whatever they catch for the day( they serve grilled fresh seafoods!!).. I just email them if you have any needs for specific types of food like for example if your vegetarian...the extra snacks i told you is that if you want to bring extra knick knacks for midnight or something like that... try it if you want to know more just get the email address online and send them an inquiry or something
Are the toilets and bath communal?
