pre bookable grocery packs

Hi,

Does anyone have information on pre-bookable grocery packs, if the supermarkets provide this.

we arrive quite late.

Also do any of these deliver beer/wine in addition.

Ideally we would like to give a supermarket our list for delivery.

Thanks

1. Re: pre bookable grocery packs

At least both Sirkan kauppa and LeviMarket have delivery service and LeviMarket advertises that they can also visit the Alko store (for wine) on your behalf.

Ask for prices and further information at

Sirkan kauppa: sirkankauppa@co.inet.fi

LeviMarket: info@levimarket.fi

If you're on a package trip, the tour operators have usually prebookable grocery packs, too.

Thank you very much, will email both supermarkets.

Our tour op doesn't supply grocery packs unfortunately so only other option is to email the log cabins, except they are closed for the summer. Still no urgency as yet as we don't go until December.

Just like to plan and be organised.

Many thanks

you could easily take stuff out with your for the first night/next morning then go shopping the following day? if you put milk (in a cardboard carton) in the freezer and then put it into the hold luggage it will stay frozen for the whole journey and will be defrosted in the morning for a cuppa

And (unopened) UHT milk can be stored for long time even in room temperature. Many cured sausages and hard cheeses (especially if long aged) also don't mind too much. Actually you cant take quite a lot with you - just not that cold beer waiting in the fridge...

If you're flying into Helsinki Vantaa airport, you're in luck since there is a mini market (Alepa, a chain supermart) in Terminal 2 Arrivals Hall (after customs). They're open 24 hours, 365 days a year. They sell everything: light bulbs, fresh produce and all. I wish all airports were like this.

6. Re: pre bookable grocery packs

In these days of limited (and diminishing) luggage allowances and liquid restrictions in hand luggage I find it rather odd that someone would transport foodstuffs that are available everywhere... The OP is on a package trip so they won't be able to pop in the Alepa at Helsinki airport, I'm afraid.

But how late will you arrive? The grocery stores in Levi are open until 9 pm every day.

7. Re: pre bookable grocery packs

Thank you very much for everyones help and info, much appreciated.

we land at 7.30 on a sunday, so not likely to be in Levi until gone 9pm by the time we collect luggage and transfer.

I have emailed both supermarkets to see if we can leave them a shopping list for delivery.

The tourist office has replied to my email and will deliver a grocery pack for us for 38 euros to include bread/milk/teabags/cheese/bisciuts etc.So it looks like we can arrange this with at least one person.

Thank you

The transfer from Kittilä Airport to Levi will take about 15 min. It will usually take only a few minutes from landing until the luggage arrives on the belt, so you may even make it to Levin in time...

lapland is very expensive for food so to keep costs down, a lot of people bring food in - as for baggage allowances, we always have plenty spare so have always bought some food in with us especially when arriving late

10. Re: pre bookable grocery packs

For self catering it's not that much more expensive that it would make a big difference in the total costs of the holiday. When we go to Lapland we sometimes prepare food at home, freeze it, take it with us and heat it there, but only to save time from cooking, not really money...
