First time questions

Visiting the Abacos for the first time in July. We're booked to stay our first night at the Abaco Beach Resort. The five days with friends on a trawler. We end the week by ourselves with three nights at the Abaco Inn in Hopetown. Would appreciate any and all suggestions, tips, etc.

Thanks,

Nancy & Bill

Suggest you purchase a copy of The Cruising Guide to Abaco, 2011, which has lots of useful information.

I think you will have a great time! The abaco forum at www.abacoforum.com is very active and very helpful if you have questions!

While you are on the boat, be sure to visit Pete's Pub and the foundry at Little Harbour one day, take a walk around Man-O-War and visit the sail shop, go to Guana and see the beach at Nippers (Sunday pig roast for a very lively time or another day for a peaceful lunch with a great view) or have a sunset drink at Grabbers, see Tahiti Beach and have lunch at Cracker P's, and if you make it up to Green Turtle you may want to rent a cart for a half day or full day and explore the island. You will have plenty to do! When you have your time alone on Elbow Cay there is plenty to do and see there as well.

Have a wonderful time! The Dodge guide is very helpful if your friends with the boat don't already have one- if it is a trawler (like a Grand Banks?) then I would think it is their personal boat rather than a charter, correct?

3. Re: First time questions

PS For your first night in MH at Abaco Beach, if it is still daylight it is a nice stroll into town from the hotel and we like the atmosphere/view at Mangoes for getting on "island time" after traveling. There are other good places on the harbour and Wally's (not on the water but across the street) has very good food as well- we have not been to MH in several years so we are not the most current advice- see the forum for that. We will be there in May though for a "refresher course"!

Thanks for the information. We're joining friends who know the owner of a Great Harbour 47 ft. trawler.
