Beaches near Marigot Oasis

Hi, we are considering trading our time share and going to the Marigot Oasis for a week in September with my DH, me, and 2 kids (10 and 11 at the time). We will have a car amd are pretty adventurous about exploring.

Our concern from reading reviews is that there appears to be a lack of a swimable beach at Marigot Oasis. How far is to to the nearest swimable beach? And how far to decent snorkling? I know the best snorkling is near Soufrie. Also how far from the international airport is this hotel? I was having a hard time figuring out times on the map since I know the roads aren't the best.

Thanks so much.

There is a small beach at Marigot Bay (small!) It fronts the harbor where the yachts dock etc. IT is pretty, but not the best beach on the island! By car, your nearest beach is probably Ti Kaye/Anse Cochon, about 30-35 minute drive. From Marigot, it is about 45 minutes or so to Soufriere. And about 45 minutes to Rodney Bay, where there is a long stretch of beach and watersports for hire.

To explore anywhere from Marigot Bay - other dining, beaches, Pitons, waterfalls, hiking, volcano, plantation tours, ziplining, and so on - will add a lot of extra time and driving to your days - again, about 45-1 hour down to Soufriere (think narrow, winding mountianous roads), and about the same up to Rodney Bay - although the road is better that direction.

It is about 1-1.15 hours from UVF airport to Marigot Bay.

Good luck and enjoy your visit!

Yeah, it's swimmable, but it is on the harbor, with yachts coming and going and docked in the harbor - personally, not where I would want to swim, but it is a lovely little beach and very calm, swimmable waters. No snorkeling or anything like that though. Enjoy your visit.

Bon jou jenniferg72,

Private water taxis available for hire in Marigot Bay, and on all resort beaches, cut transportation times by half (avoiding St. Lucia's up&down, twistycurvy, uphill & downvalley roads).

Marigot Bay, located mid-way on St. Lucia's West Coast, is a good choice for quick access to Rodney Bay in the North and Soufriere in the South.

Marigot Bay is not the best for swimming. It is a very small, sometimes stagnant body of water with lots of boat traffic in & out.

Bless up! Paul

Why not see if you can get Windjammer Landing or Bay Gardens Beach Resort for your exchange instead? Both of those are on the beach and better suited for your kiddos.

Thank you so much for your help! I think that we have decided to go to Kauia for this vacation and save St. Lucia for another time when we can trade to WindJammer Landing. That property was actually my first choice, but isn't available during the the times that my kids are off school.

But one day soon I'll be back on the forum hopefully planning my trip. I have always wanted to go to St. Lucia.

How far away is Sandals La Toc from Marigot Oasis? I am renewing my vows at Sandals and have guests that want to stay at a less expensive resort but want to still attend the ceremony. Any suggestions of where they should stay in proximity to Sandals La Toc?

I would suggest your guests look into staying in Rodney Bay area - lots of hotels in the area at all price points, great long stretch of beach, over 30 restaurants and bars in easy walking distance, casino, shopping and so on. A taxi to La Toc would cost aout $30US one way and take about 25-30 minutes.

Marigot Oasis is again, about 30+ minutes away and taxi would be around $35US one way or so, but a somewhat tougher ride and very little in the area as compared to Rodney Bay - including a good beach!!

Coco Palm, Bay Gardens Beach Resort, Harmony Suites, The Royal or St. Lucian by Rex, and so on are all great options.

If they wan an AI property, St James Club Morgan Bay is great, 3-3.5 stars, about 15-20 minutes from La Toc - it's a family resort, but does have some adult only venues.

Keep in mind - they will still need day or night passes for Sandals to attend the vow renewal ceremony, on order of about $100US pp for each pass.

Enjoy!
