Kalamata 4 days

So I will be in turkey heading to Israel . I have to stop in Athens so I figure I'll go to kalamata for couple days . How expensive it is for transport and finding my way around . I love beaches and beautiful views . I'll have four days till I will go back to Athens. If you think I should go to a different island from Athens I'm open to suggestions .

Hi Smilz2011,

Kalamata, Messinia is not an island. It's a region in South-West Peloponnese (peninsula).

The Messinia county in general is a beautiful region with lovely beaches picturesque villages and historical sites, let alone thousands of olive trees.

Transport isn't expensive and it's easy to get around.

It's approximately 230 km from Athens and easily accessible by coach or train.

Sorry Catherine, no train!

The bus is frequent & costs 22.20 euros, the Express (direct, no stops) takes just over 2.5 hrs, the ordinary bus about 40 mins longer.

You'll find photos here of places to see locally,
