i have booked to stay at the casuarina in may, but recently found out that the new owners have started, or are about to start, a $3 million dollar upgrade program. i am concerned about staying on a "building site" for 2 weeks, i have e-mailed the new owners and they sent me an e-mail of the upgrade program, i have copied and pasted it here.
Facility and property upgrade programme – update 29th January 2013
Couples Resorts are embarking on a US$3 million facility and property upgrade programme which we can now confirm will be as follows:
The current location of the Kids Club at Casuarina Beach Resort will be vacated 11th Feb and the club will be relocated to Block 6 ground floor and 3 Guest rooms will be used. The Kids Club area will become the upgraded gym. All work will be internal and the workers will be inside the building only. The building is completely separate from the rest of the resort. Any noise generated will not be heard in guest rooms or public areas. Workers have a separate access from the drive way to the building so there will be no visible workers through the property at anytime.
The area that is currently the games room and snack bar will be converted into a Spa and reception area from 11 Feb through to 01 June 2013. The snack bar will be relocated to the current buffet area next to WAVES Restaurant. The games will be moved to a location next to the current stage in the main building. The Spa will consist of 4 treatment rooms and a reception desk. Work will be inside a concrete building, noise to surrounding buildings and public areas therefore will be minimal. Workers will have access to the building from the staff entrance only so again no workers will be visible by guests on property at anytime.
The New Pool and Jacuzzi have already been completed and are in operation.
All work will take place Monday to Saturdays 9am to 5pm only.
i will send an e-mail to virgin holidays to let them know i will not put up with living on a building site and will demand to be moved if any work is noticable. i have no problem with a hotel being upgraded, but not while guests are spending hard earned cash to stay there. the sea breeze, where we normally stay, is closing from april to august for a re-fit, which is the way it should and can be done.
